I squinted through a throbbing headache, my eyes readjusting to the light. I tried desperately to get my bearings, but the ringing in my ears thew me off. My vision was blurred and my brain fuzzy.

I tried to raise my hands to rub my eyes, but my attempts failed. That's when I realised my hands were tied behind my back and my ankles tied to the legs of the chair I was sat on.

As my vision finally cleared I started to recognise where I was. The familiar desks and chairs told me I was in a science classroom in my old high school, Mystic Falls High.

"Hi sleepyhead, you remember me?" A voice teased from behind me.

A voice I instantly recognised as Kai Parker. The same sociopathic Kai who had just siphoned the anti magic border spell that was placed around mystic falls. He had magic to waste. I was in trouble.

"Kai let me out of these ropes. Now." I demanded.

I of course wasn't expecting him to actually let me go at my request, but I had to sound at least somewhat threatening.

He walked from behind me and finally into my line of view, crouching down in front of my chair.

He was dressed in a mystic falls timber wolves t-shirt. Of course he was. The smug look painted on his face indicated he was just waiting on me to comment on it.

"But then you'd try to run away and I'd have to ruin that pretty face of yours." He said through a smirk.

"Like the shirt?"

"Burn in hell Kai." I spat at him.

"Ouch." He replied sticking his bottom lip out.

He was taunting me.

I had met Kai on three previous occasions, all of which he would wink at me, or flirt with me, all whilst threatening me or my friends. Just to get some sort of rise out of me.

I let the blood rush to my face, showing dark veins under my eyes and bearing my fangs.

I was letting him know that when I got out of these ropes, I was going to drain him of every drop of blood that had the misfortune to inhabit his body.

This threat only raised a giggle from kai, now full of magic who knew he was practically untouchable.

Kai had clearly had enough fun as his dark features then turned into a more threatening expression. Letting me know play time was over.

"Now, if you're about done with the whole scary vampire act, how about we get on to what you can do to help me." He said looking at me as though I was completely beneath him. A tool for his own needs and nothing else.

"I'd rather die than help you." I groaned.

He knelt down and leaned tauntingly close to my face before placing his hand on my cheek and caressing it with his thumb.

"Aw, sweetheart don't tempt me." He said inches away from my face.

My skin was burning with rage. He knew he was getting to me, causing his sinister face to hold a smile he couldn't wipe away, knowing he was winning.

I played with the ropes a bit to see if I could break them but the bastard had laced them with vervain. Every time I struggled the ropes would burn my skin. It felt like a thousand razors piercing my skin every time I moved.

He let out a small laugh as I gasped in pain. Every time I yelped it was music to his ears. I glared at him in return.

"What do you want from me Kai?" I snarled.

He was now dotting around the class room playing with the science equipment. Giving me only half of his attention.

"Your help to kill Jo." He said nonchalantly, whilst inspecting a Bunsen burner.

"You're insane." I retorted.

"Maybe." He said putting the burner down and sauntering back over to me.
"But don't you want to know what I'll give you in return?" He winked.

"I wouldn't help you even if you were willing to offer me your own head on a platter Kai."

He rolled his eyes at my remark.

"What if I could get Bon Bon out of the prison world for you?"

I stared right through his soul. Bonnie was my best friend that he left for dead in the 1994 prison world made for him. He left her there alone and she had stayed that way for months now.

"How dare you mention Bonnie to me." I snapped.

Tears threatened to prick the back of my eyes but I quickly blinked them away as the back of my throat burned. I couldn't let him know he had affected me.

"I do miss Bon Bon, she was almost as hot as you." He teased.

I was going to kill him.

"Listen princess, all you need to do is make sure Jo merges with me. I'll take care of the rest, you know all powerful Gemini witch here." He said through a grin. So confident he was going to beat Jo in the merge.

What he didn't know is Jo was already planning to merge with Kai, she just wasn't planning on letting him win. We all had been helping her train for weeks now.

"And if I convince Jo to merge with you. You'll free Bonnie?" I asked pretending to buy into his plot.

"I'll free her, when I win."

I couldn't let that happen. We'd find another way to get Bonnie out. We had been searching since the moment Kai appeared here to find away to bring her back home, it was just taking a bit of time.

"I will speak to Jo." I said, letting him believe he had tempted me. It was probably the only way I was getting out of here alive.

"Don't take too long now Maddie, full moon is tomorrow."

Shit. He wanted her to merge with him tomorrow and she wasn't ready at all. Practically every time she'd practiced a spell she brutally messed it up.

Unfortunately, I had a feeling whether I 'convinced' Jo to merge with him or not he was going to force her to anyway.

Although if everyone agreed to the merge, I have the feeling there would be a few less dead bodies by the end of tomorrow. Kai didn't hold back when he didn't get his way.
