"What do you mean he escaped? How does he escape cadet?!" I jumped at the ferocity in Levi's voice.

"H-he was right there sir! I went to...you know and when i came back he was gone."

I narrowed my eyes at his words. I couldn't shake the weird feeling that he was lying.

We'd all stopped in the village on the way back to HQ and now...we have a criminal on the loose.

"We have to keep moving. The longer you stay arguing, the further away he'll be. We can tell the Garrison and keep them on the lookout. We can deal with your arguing at HQ with the commander." The two looked at me and Levi nodded now noticing the crowd forming.

"Hanji, go inform the Garrison since You clearly want to stay here a bit longer." Levi mused and that was when I noticed her gawking at the  stands lined along the streets.

"Righty-o!"

We moved on. Levi watched Reiner closely as we approached our final destination.

"Corporal Y/n! Corporal Y/n! This-this woman, s-sarah said to to give you a m-message." He panted and I patiently waited.

"She said the baby is coming." He huffed. My eyes went wide and I quickly turned the horse.

"Corporal-" Levi joined me.

"I Can't leave you alone in a place where a criminal could be planning to hurt you."

"What about Reiner?"

"I've given him a warning. I'll deal with him later."  With that we hurried off to the house.

I quickly unlocked the door and headed upstairs.

"Y/n?" A frail voice sounded from the living room.

"Stay with him? I can stay with Sarah." He nodded and stiffly entered the living room.

"Oh? My are you y/n's partner? You're a bit old." I placed a quick hand to my mouth before heading upstairs.

"Ow!" I opened the door and smiled gently at my sister in law. A nurse quickly walked over to me.

"No...she can...stay" she whispered trying another push.

"She's very weak. I am afraid she might not make it." I shook my head and smiled at Sarah.

"She has to."

"You have to be aware your duties as a godmother if that should happen." She ushered me closer and I sat beside Sarah, moving hair out of her face.

"Took you...long enough." I smiled and took her hand.

"Sorry. I've been away. You're doing great."

"If You're saying that i must look pretty bad."

"Nobody looks good having a baby. Squeeze my hand if you need to." She huffed and whined as she struggled.

"Miss Y/n, do you think you can keep her awake for us."

"What?" That's when I noticed her eyes drooping.

"Sarah, what was your wedding like?" She smiled and looked at me.

"Beautiful. We saved up so much to afford nice clothes. Dad made my dress and it was besutiful. We had portraits done...i think They're in the....urgh." she shook like a leaf and her grip on my hand was going slack.

"How-how was your first meeting?"

"He-came to my....bakery. my....he....introduced himself. He was....really...charming." I felt tears start to emerge.

"How do you think Jason would feel knowing about the baby?" She smiled tears flooding her eyes.

"I don't think...i can do this."

"No, no you can. You're a strong woman, You can do this. You have me and dad to help you. Come on."

"I mean...raise a baby....I will only see Jason." She went weak and her eyes fluttered closed.

"Is there anything you can do?"

"It's nearly over but you need to wake her up."

It had been a long couple of hours when cries finally filled the room. They handed the child to Sarah.

"Congratulations, It's a girl." Sarah smiled weakly as sweat dripped down her forehead. I rubbed her back.

"Ah....a girl." She went slack and fell into her mattress breathing slow. I gently took the child and rocked it.

The nurse went out and retrieved my father. He took off his hat and knelt beside the bed as her breathing slowed and weakened.

"Do you want a biscuit?" He whispered and Sarah smiled.

"Right now, I just want to sleep." He nodded.

"What's her name?" I questioned and she smiled.

"Theda it means a gift from god. I thought it was fitting." I smiled at the small baby.

"Would you mind taking care of her some days?" She questioned from the bed. I smiled.

"Sure. Why?"

"I'm going to start baking again. I don't want to take all of your wages."

"It's no-"

"Ah,that's where You've been sending your wages." I jumped slightly and passed the little girl to dad before looking at Levi.

"I Can't just let my family struggle."

"It's admirable of you." I raised a brow at him.

"Her heart rate is stable, all she needs are rest and some of these capsules when she wakes up. They'll ease her pain." I nodded and we all filed out of the room and made space for the nurse and doctor.

I looked into the room with a smile.

Jason would be ecstatic right now.

"Well, I don't know about you two but I could do with some bubbly." Dad said as he hobbled down the stairs.

I looked to Levi and smiled.

"Are you staying?"

"I'm not going to let you go into the town on your own at night if That's what you mean." I rolled my eyes.

We entered the living room in time to see dad doing a weird dance as he tried to pop the cork.

"Here, I'll help." Levi walked over and opened the bottle before pouring the glasses.

"What a good lad. You have good taste my girl. Soon it'll be you two-"

"Dad!"
