It was exactly two days until the Yule ball, you've hardly had anyone ask you yet and you had to admit you were kind of upset over it since it was nobody you'd enjoy going with. "I may not even go to that stupid ball." You said to Daphne as the two of you went to your common room after finishing your last class of the day "Are you crazy?" she questioned and hit your arm "This is a once in a lifetime experience, Y/N." she said seriously and you couldn't help but laugh. "Have you got a date?" You asked her and her cheeks flushed "Blaise," she said slowly and you wrapped your arm around her "You guys would be cute together." you said and winked to which she just pushed you off her. "I've been trying to hint to him to ask me out but he's just too stupid!" She whined and you giggled, you heard someone running behind you and Daphne and you both whipped around realizing it was Harry "Y/N," he beamed and put his hand out, you were hesitant but shook it. "You've probably already been asked," He started and Daphne nudged you in the ribs and smiled "but would you go to the Yule ball with me?" everyone around you silenced, it was that awful type of uncomfortable silence. "I'll think about it, Harry. I'm really honoured you've asked me, I'll owl you in a bit with an answer?" You offered and he nodded briskly "Don't feel pressured to!" he said while walking off, Daphne and you walked on and she giggled. "Harry Potter, "The Chosen One" asked you to the Yule Ball and you basically declined?" you laughed a little. "Is he the only one who asked?" She questioned and a smirk crept on your face, "Who? N/N, you have to tell me!" you locked your arm with hers as you entered the dungeons. "A few people from each house and a ton of second years from our house!" You said and laughed, Daphne laughing along with you.
You reached the common room and Daphne and you decided to study for a bit in silence. You began to clean up everything since you had just finished until some random first year came up to you with a letter. "Hello?" You said to the intimidated first year "You're Y/N L/N?" they questioned and you nodded. "Cedric Diggory said to give you this." They said and handed you a letter before scurrying off.

"Daphne, I've got to go quick, it's from Cedric." You said, waving the letter and she nodded, you stalked off to the library.

"Y/N!" Cedric called after a few minutes of you walking through the isles of the library looking for him. "Shh!" You mimicked Irma Pince, the librarian and Cedric laughed. "So," He started and the two of you walked down the isle "have you got a date to the ball yet?" he question and you shook your head. "I've had a few people ask." You shrugged and he stopped walking and looked to you "Go to the ball with me?" he asked and you took a second to reply, you sighed heavily. "I may not go to the ball," You began and his expression dropped "it's not that I don't like you, Ced because I really do it's just that I had another champion ask and haven't given them a proper answer yet, I don't think it would be fair." he nodded. "I understand." He promised and you realized the isle was empty and took both his hands in yours "I'll go with you." you decided and he leaned down and kissed you, he quickly pulled away to the sound of books falling off the shelves. "Draco?" You questioned and walked over with Cedric behind you and took your wand out, with a flick of your wand the books cleaned themselves up. "You're seriously going with Diggory?" Draco scoffed and you rolled your eyes "Lets not make a scene in the library, Malfoy." you said sternly and took Cedrics hand in yours "Now, if you'll move, Cedric and I are leaving." you spat to Draco and stormed out with Cedric.
You led him into the nearest empty classroom and shut the door "I'm sorry about him, Ced." you apologized quickly and he nodded in acceptance. "I know how he can get," He shrugged and put his hands on your waist "did he not ask you to the ball?" he questioned and leaned closer to you "Blaise said he was planning on it." you mumbled before putting your arms around his neck and pulling him in and finishing the kiss you never got to finish earlier. He pulled away breathlessly and tried to lean in again but you pushed him off gently "I told Daphne I'd get back to her as quickly as I could, we'll resume this later?" you said before hurrying off back to your common room.

Once you entered your common room you realized Daphne wasn't there and decided to go up to your dormitory, luckily she was there. "Daphne!" You said excitedly and sat down next to her on her bed and she grinned "He asked me to the ball and I said yes!" you exclaimed and she wrapped her arms around you. "We have to dress shop!" She said hurriedly and you nodded, you didn't particularly like dresses but wanted to dress nice for this event because you knew it meant lots to Cedric.
