𝚎𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚎𝚎𝚗

It was the night before the second task and you were helping Cedric find something for being under water for an hour but were so far unsuccessful. "L/N," You heard Snape mutter and looked to him "I was helping him for-" Snape quickly cut you off "Come with me. Diggory, she'll be seeing you tomorrow." he said and began to walk away, you waved to him unhappily and followed Snape, running up beside him. "You needed me?" You asked as he lead you to Dumbledores office "As you know, Y/N, Mr. Diggory will be looking for something valuable of his in the black lake, yes?" he said slowly and you nodded "Cedric's told me about it." you mumbled and he continued on "You will be his item." he said as you entered into Dumbledores office and saw Hermione, Ron and who you assumed to be Fleurs sister. "Ah, Y/N, you made it." Dumbledore said cheerily "As I was saying, the four of you will have a spell put on you and put in the bottom of the black lake for the champions to find." Dumbledore said very matter-of-factly, "Come now," he said and the four of you followed him.

Dracos POV
"Blaise, Daphne, have you seen Y/N?" He asked the couple sitting on the couch nearest the fire in the Slytherin common room. "I haven't since last night, I already owled Cedric because she was helping him with the task but apparently Snape said he needed her and he'd be seeing her tomorrow." She said plainly and he sighed, knowing she was okay if she was with Snape, or so he hoped. He ran off outside the castle and down to the lake, pushing some first years out of the way to get in a small boat leading to a floating platform where the second task was held. "She must be here," He muttered to himself and got a few confused looks from younger students but just rolled his eyes. He began shoving through the crowd to find her but realized the second task had already started and decided to sit down.
He sat there uncomfortably for an hour until he finally saw her, he saw Y/Ns head bob out of the water, she was clutching onto Diggory and coughing out water. He decided to walk down to the main platform and wait for them to get out of the water, Cedric was the first champion back. As they swam closer he could hear them talking "The water's quite cold." he heard Y/N say, followed by Cedrics laughter "Hold onto me, we'll be there in a moment." he said as she grabbed his shoulders as he swam them back. Draco felt anger rise in his chest seeing her hold on to him, it wasn't fair.

Y/Ns POV
You were holding onto Cedric and your teeth were chattering, it was the middle of the winter and the lake was freezing cold. "It seems you've won, Ced." You said happily as you watched him climb up the ladder onto the floating platform, he nodded as he took your hand and pulled you up. "Thanks," You mutter through chattering teeth, "Y/N!" you heard Daphne squeal as you were putting your hair in a towel and a house coat. "Daph," You smiled as she hugged you tight "You're freezing," she acknowledged as you just nodded slowly, a smile coming across your face seeing who was lurking behind her trying to not be seen by you. "Malfoy!" You beamed and waved him over, he trudged over to you and looked at you with concern "Why would they put you in there, you could get hypothermia!" he said like it was a ridiculous idea. You saw his expression dropped and a second later felt Cedric wrap his arms around you and rest his chin on the top of your head "Diggory," Draco snarled and you couldn't help but smile a little "You jealous, Malfoy?" Cedric said mockingly and you accidentally let out a laugh "Sorry," you muttered quickly with a smile plastered on your face. "This is a waste of my bloody time." You heard Draco mutter as he stalked off and you realized the rest of the champions had returned.
Cedric was announced as the winner for this task, "Congrats," you mumbled before pulling his face down to yours and swiftly kissing him on the lips, you were freezing but you felt immediate warmth from the kiss.

It was a few days later and you were walking to your Muggle Studies class and felt someone grab your shoulders and they quickly turned you around to face them. "Cedric." You beamed, him and you hadn't really spoken since the task "I've been wanting to ask you something," he started "since the ball." he said slowly and you nodded. He let out a heavy sigh and took your hands in his "I was wondering if," he said slowly and you squeezed his hands gently "you'd want to be '0fficial' with me?" he said with a grin plastered on his face, you beamed but your expression almost immediately fell to a small frown. "After the third task, yes, but as for now, no." You said slowly and let out a sigh, he nodded, he looked happy with your answer "It's too much going on." you finished and he kissed you on the cheek "Thank you," he mumbled to you and let go of his hold on you, and with that, he apparated. You didn't know to where, probably one of his classes.
It took you the entire day to register what Cedric had asked you, "You don't think it's a prank, do you, Daph?" you asked as you sat on the end of Daphnes bed who quickly shook her head in response "I see the way he looks at you.".
