You woke up quite early, Daphne and Pansy were still asleep. You decided to get in the shower, the warm water felt nice. Once you were out of the steaming shower, you wrapped a towel around your body and wiped the mirror over the sink with your hand to reveal your reflection, you took your wand atop the sink and pointed it at your hair and mumble a spell to dry it.
You got dressed in your uniform for the day, heading down to the common room and out to the great hall for breakfast.
Once you arrived you realized it was quite early and there wasn't many people at the Slytherin table, you did recognize Blaise who just happened to be sitting next to Draco, "Great-" you muttered to yourself, out of earshot from your friends and sat across from the two. Blaise was busy in conversation with a boy you recognized as Theodore Nott, you have hardly spoken to him but he seems alright. Draco was staring boredly at his plate of food and twirling his fork "Goodmorning." you said so they would acknowledge your presence. "Morning," Blaise said and shot you a grin "Daphne up?" he asked curiously, you shook your head. You had started getting annoyed with Blaise and Daphnes infatuating with eachother, you loved that they were happy and together but sometimes it made you feel lonely. Draco never said anything he just nodded, seemingly tired. You put some toast on your plate and grabbed an apple, sipping from your pumpkin juice. "Y/N," You heard Blaise speak and you looked to him "this is Theodore Nott." he said and you just nodded "Hello," you said shortly before you began to eat again. "What classes do you guys have?" Blaise asked and Draco replied before you could "Double Defence Against the Dark Arts with the Hufflepuffs." he said boredly, you forgot Draco and you had the same schedule. "Then Potions and History of Magic, then we're done for today." You told Blaise and he nodded "Nott and I have double Herbology, I believe." he said and you stood up without another word and left. You didn't leave out of the great hall, you just left to another table, Hufflepuff table. You walked down behind everyone who all seemed to be deep in conversation with their peers and finally found Cedric, you covered his eyes quickly "Guess who?" you snickered and he gently took your hands off his face and turned around in his seat to face you "Goodmorning." he said smiling, "Morning, Ced." you said shortly and he beamed. "Cedric, there's actually something i want to talk about with you." You said quietly, hoping nobody would hear, he just nodded and stood up and said a quick goodbye to his friends and followed you out of the great hall. Once you had exited the hall you brushed your hand against his and he intertwined your fingers, you didn't want to ask to hold his hand, that was embarrassing and seemed quite pathetic. "What is it you wanted to talk about?" He asked while the two of you went up the winding steps to the astronomy tower, you just shook your head "Not yet," and the two of you silently climbed the stairs.
Once arriving to the top, you dropped his hand and went over to the railing, overlooked the grounds, you felt Cedric come up behind you, he put his arms around your waist protectively and rested his chin atop your head. You sighed quite heavily "I have a bloody awful feeling about this third task," you started and he was silent for a moment. "I'll be fine, N/N." He assured you but you didn't believe so, usually when you had a bad feeling you were correct, it was like a gift and a curse. "Let Potter win." You said and he let go of you and walked back a few steps, you immediately turned around, confused "Oh, so this was about Harry, wasn't it?" he said enraged, you scoffed, you didn't want to deal with drama this early. "You want Harry to win and not me? You fancy the 'Chosen One', d'you, L/N?" He spat and you vigorously shook your head "Are you stupid?" you bellowed and he looked taken aback. "Potter asked me to that stupid dance before you did and I turned him down for you!" You said angrily and his expression completely dropped, realizing he was wrong "I don't want you winning, something bad's going to happen." you assured him and he just shook his head "I'm going to win the tournament, wether you like it or not." he said as calmly as possible before starting to walk off "Fine!" you shouted while you watched him walk down the stairs, if your conversation with Cedric was going to end on bad terms you needed the last word. The cold wind whipped your hair and you slid down the wall and sat there, hugging your knees. You were too upset to go to class, your fight with Cedric made you feel nauseous, you might just skip today.
You were up there all alone for what felt like forever until you heard someone walking up the stairs, their steps echoed quite loudly, you mumbled a few curses and stood up. The person who came up the stairs was none other than Draco Malfoy, "Finally." he sighed and came over beside you. "Why weren't you at class?" He asked boredly and you stared at your feet "Why would I have to tell you?" you sneered and finally looked to him, a smirk crossed his face. "Because I was the one looking for you." He stated simply and you scoffed "I don't have to tell you anything, Malfoy." you told him and straightened your posture a little. "I have every reason to know, L/N." He said, What a git, thinks he's entitled to everything. You thought to yourself "Sod off, Draco." you said in defeat and he didn't say anything "How do I make it more obvious I don't want to speak about it?" you said through gritted teeth. He simply smirked, though you could tell it was forced "I saw you leave with Diggory, thought I'd see you in class. Lucky for you, Moody let me leave since I'm ahead to look for you since you were absent." he said like it was obvious. "Okay?" You said harshly, "Tell me what happened." he said, it was more of a statement than it was a question. "I don't have to tell you anything." You said firmly and he shrugged "I know it was Diggorys fault." he said and you looked away without saying anything and shrugged "I told him I had a bad feeling about the last task." you mumbled and you could picture the smirk on Malfoys face, satisfied he got it out of you. "Coming to next class?" He asked either though it seemed like he didn't really care and pulled out a pocket watch "We're already late." he said and you shrugged, glancing up to him but quickly looking down realizing he was already looking at you, taking in your features. "I was going to skip but we have potions so better not." You decided and the two of you trudged down the stairs without another word to eachother until Draco said "I don't want you talking to him anymore." you knew he meant Cedric, but you didn't have the energy to argue.
Once the two of you entered Potions class Snape shot you both harsh glances, but mostly you "One second," he mumbled before going to Snape and you went and sat down at your seat, Draco following about a minute later and seating himself next to you. "Told him you were sick-" He said swiftly before Snape began to speak "As I was saying, this is Amortentia." he said, motioning to the cauldron beside him, "Can anyone tell me what Amortentia is?" he asked, emphasizing the word is. Your hand shot up and so did a Gryffindor girls who you recognized as Hermione Granger, Harrys friend, Dracos hand went up as well. "Miss L/N?" Snape said and you stood up "Amortentia is a powerful love potion, if made correctly, the drinker will become obsessed or infatuated with whoever the potion was made for them to." you stated and sat back down, "Very good," Snape muttered "And the smell?" you paused for a second, you've read this before "Everyone smells something different," you started slowly but Snape quickly cut you off "Come up to the front." he said and you did so, "people smell scents that are from or remind them of the person they currently like, or are in love with." you said and quickly glanced to Draco who had a smug look on his face. "For example," You started and smelled the cauldron "I smell mint gum." you said slowly as realization hit you and you walked back to your seat and sat down, avoiding looking at Draco at all. "Wonderful, 25 points to Slytherin." Snape granted and you smiled a little, "Today you will be making amortentia with your seating partner," he told the class and with a swish of his wand the ingredients were all put out. "you may start." He muttered and you looked to Draco "I'll get the ingredients." you said quickly and while Draco began to skim through his potions book for how to brew it you grabbed all the needed ingredients and went back to your desk with Draco, setting it all down. "Put the egg in." He said and you took the ashwinder egg and dropped it lightly to the bottom of the cauldron as Draco swore, dropping in a handful of rose thorns but pricking his hand by accident and you snickered. He poured in the peppermint oil and you dropped in moonstone, Draco began to stir it and once he stopped spirals of smoke came out, you smelled the same thing from Amortentia as you did earlier, mint gum. "Very good," You heard Snape mutter, "5 points to you both." he said and stalked off. You saw Draco smiling of satisfaction, "What do you smell?" you asked curiously, but you tried to sound as if you didn't care. Draco leaned down and smelled the aroma from the cauldron and was silent.Dracos POV
"I smell nothing." He lied and Y/N simply nodded, he didn't like lying to her but he's a Malfoy, he wasn't going to admit he fancies her unless he knew he had a fair chance. He felt quite insecure beside Diggory, he knew Y/N liked him better and that made him feel bad about himself. He liked the way he looked and his house and clothes, he had everything he wanted except for one thing, her. He's lost her twice, why a third time? She likes Diggory anyways.Y/Ns POV
You had to admit, you were quite disappointed when he told you he didn't smell anything.
The class was over and the only group that made the potion correct was Draco and you, you felt quite proud.
"I'm skipping History of Magic." You said to Draco as you departed from Snapes classroom, "Fine with me." he shrugged and left. You waited about a minute for Daphne to exit the class "Daph." you grinned, Daphne and you hadn't spoken as much as usual recently, there never seemed to be time. "N/N!" She returned your smile "I'm skipping History of Magic, come with me to the black lake?" you asked and she nodded.
You and your friend left outside of Hogwarts down to the lake, it was fairly warm out today so you didn't need winter attire.
Daphne and you sat there under a tree up until dinner, she told you all about what's going on with her and Blaise until she asked "You smell Draco?" and you just raised an eyebrow. "In the amortentia." She said and you smirked, "Don't tell, Daphne, you promise?" you asked and she nodded, "I thought you liked Cedric." she admitted and your expression softened "I thought so as well, but I only see him as a friend." you confided. "I was speaking to Cedric this morning and told him I had a bad feeling about the next task and to let someone else win and he thought I was playing him for Harry." You explained and she looked to you in disbelief, her expression swiftly turned to a small smile "Word is, Harry fancies you.".
