This is inspired by a post I saw on facebook lmao.

WARNINGS: A trashy short imagine, me being sad cause this is my last imagine for this book </3

The sun was setting, the water softly waved with the wind.

For me, it was a perfect day. Especially with Draco's arm around me as we watched the sun go down, the colors of the sky changing from orange to dark blue.

Draco was quiet, as if deep in thought, but I just let him be. Ever since we came back to Hogwarts, he's been quiet, but he never failed to make me feel loved, to feel cared for.

In all honesty, I was the one who's supposed to be caring for him. The trauma he went through for the past few years were no joke, he didn't deserve to go through all that.

All I did was stay by his side, but I had no idea. I was basically useless.

I felt sad for him from time to time. If only I were of more use.

Suddenly, I felt him take a deep breath, "I have to tell you something," he said, his voice breaking a bit.

I couldn't help but furrow my eyebrows, "What's wrong?" I asked him as I turned around to face him properly.

A moment of silence passed by, and I waited patiently for him to say whatever he wants to say. But for some reason, I don't know if I wanted to know what he's about to say.

Though, it's a bit too late, because the words that fell out of his mouth shocked me, "I think we need to take different paths. Take a better one, because I can't take the same one as yours."

I was taken back by his words, "What are you saying, Draco?"

He swallowed what seemed to be a lump in his throat, and looked at me, "I'm breaking up with you," he said.

For a moment, we were silent. I didn't know what to say. I thought for a moment, trying to think what I could've done wrong. We were happy, weren't we?

"Is this about the past few years? Because I'm sorry that I wasn't there. But I promise to make it up to you," I told him, my eyes turning glassy with tears.

Draco shook his head, "By the end of the year, I'm to marry the heir of the Greengrass family. There's nothing I could do- Merlin, my mother herself asked me to do this."

It took me a moment to answer. I knew that when it came to his mother, he couldn't refuse. He loves her too much, that he would go out of his path for her.

There was no changing his mind.

I looked away from Draco, while he looked down. Neither of us could look at each other so miserable. We can't look at one another so.. broken.

Letting out a sad sigh, I said, "I understand- I know I can't ever compete with your family. You'd do everything for them. Merlin, I knew that from the start, yet I still gave you all my love. I barely kept any for myself."
