Falling Like Stars

Chapter Nineteen

The next day, it was the party day. Alex was really excited to make everything right with his friends because it was the first party he gave after coming back. After everyone came everyone greeted him and thanked him for the party. He was happy. His every friend was there except the one he was waiting for.

Ella came with her boyfriend, Max, and his every bandmates were there. They were hanging out drinking and laughing and then Ashley made her appearance. Everyone was so happy to see her.

And suddenly Alex stood up and proposed something unexpected.
"Hey guys, let us sing a song. Only our band. What do you think?"
Everyone was quite for a moment but then one by one agreed. They sang a song Alex wrote two years ago when the band was something. It was really fun and it meant everything to Alex. Then they moved on with a truth and dare game. Ella was dared to kiss Max and it was not a big deal, fortunately. Then the part came when Alex chose dare and Ashley gave him a dare.
He was dared to sing a song.
"What song will I sing? I'm confused. Tell me."
"I don't know."
"Remember the first song comes to your mind."
"Rewrite the stars."
"That's good."
Then suddenly Jessica said, "It is a duet song right? So why don't Ashley sing with Alex?"
"Oh no I can't!"
"You have to." And Alex took her hand and made her stand.

[This is the song and I'm gonna explain every part when they sang it.]

"I'm nervous, Alex!", she whispered in his ears.
"Don't be."
"But I don't sing."
"Just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't."
"But I don't practice!", she was upset.
"Do you trust me?", and Alex looked at her eyes.
After some moments she replied, "Yes, I do. But I don't trust myself."
"It's okay. You will do great. I'm with you."

And then they started.

"You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
I know you want me"

*Looked at her eyes.*

"So don't keep sayin' our hands are tied
You claim it's not in the cards
And fate is pullin' you miles away
And out of reach from me

So who can stop me if I decide

*Alex became so into the song.*

"What if we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine"

*Again looked at her and she looked back*

"Nothing could keep us apart
You'd be the one I was meant to find

No one can say what we get to be"

*Both of them looked away, feeling shy.*

"So why don't we rewrite the stars?
Maybe the world could be ours
Tonight"

Ashley's part was coming and she felt nervous. She looked at Alex and her nervousness was clear to Alex. Alex looked at her and made her feel calm, he said through his eyes, "You can." And then she began.

"You think it's easy
You think I don't wanna run to you"

*Her voice vibrated but she kept on, with full on feeling.*

"But there are mountains
And there are doors that we can't walk through
I know you're wondering why because we're able to be
Just you and me within these walls"

*And she looked at him this time and he was supporting her with everything.*

"But when we go outside, you're gonna wake up and see
That it was hopeless after all"

"No one can rewrite the stars

*And she looked away."
"Everything keeps us apart
And I'm not the one you were meant to find

When everyone tells us what we can be

*In the place of the high note, and Ashley needed his support. So both of them turned to each other and made perfect eye contact.*

*And Ashley felt a bit out of breath and Alex held her hand, and they turned around to the audience again.*

"How do we rewrite the stars?

Changing the world to be ours"

*And Alex left her hand thinking it to be too much.*

*Ashley looked at Alex.*

"You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
But I can't have you
We're bound to break and my hands are tied"

The others made so many sounds to cheer them up. Ashley really sung so well, better than anyone imagined.
"Do you sing?", was Ella's first question.
"No I don't. But until one year before Alex left, whenever I came here, I used to sing songs in this karaoke box, with him. Well, I learnt singing from him. He is a good teacher."
"Aww, that's cute. You guys are really something!"
And both of them felt shy but none said a word.

Then everyone was supporting how much they sang well. But then after a moment Ashley got out of the room saying she wanted to go to the washroom, but she was a bit off and Alex felt it. He then decided to go upstairs and look on her.
