Eponine stands outside Marius' door. She opens the letter, reads it, then hides it in her pocket. She pushes open Marius' door. Marius & Enjolras look up. Eponine: I came to tell you she's gone. Marius & Enjolras: Gone? What do you mean? Eponine: She's gone to England. Marius & Enjolras set off at a run towards the Rue Plumet. Marius & Enjolras find the gate broken open, sees the house beyond dark and deserted. They push into the garden, up to the house windows, sees the rooms empty within. They stand staring, in shock. Eponine has followed them, and watches them in silence.
