It was time. It had taken months of preparation and stress, but finally Y/N stood looking into a full-length mirror while her stylist put the final touches in her hair. The media would be here. His family would be here. Her "family" would be here. And tonight's reception would be the official passing of the mantle from the Chairman to her. It was a lot, so it makes sense that Y/N was taking deep, slow breaths and reminding herself that she wanted this. That she'd chosen it. None of it had been forced on her.
And now she stood, hair up and carefully arranged, veil trailing down her back, crisp and white pantsuit clinging to her body. She looked every bit a Chairwoman, the continuation of a dynasty.
She was missing her graduation ceremony for this. Sacrifices had to be made.
She wasn't sure which was worse. Standing up in front of people she didn't know, or standing up front of vipers she did.
"Damn." Jimin had been prepared for it, but it still stunned him. He'd helped her pick everything out, but seeing it all on her with her makeup and hair done.....Namjoon was one lucky guy.
And that lucky guy hadn't told his brothers much, just an overview of what she'd told him. Just enough to reassure them that he wasn't walking into this blind, not that he felt he had much of a choice. "Are you trying to kill Joon-hyung?"
Y/N would've laughed, if she hadn't felt so tense, but she shook her head instead.
"There is no murder intended tonight." Jimin grinned and stepped up to double-check that her hair was perfectly arranged.
"I've arranged a coffee outing tomorrow morning so the media can get a good shot of your mating mark. I'll text you the details. Don't worry about it until then." Y/N hummed an acknowledgement.
There wasn't going to be a honeymoon, she was way too busy and was about to completely take the reins of the company. She and Namjoon would spend the night at her....their place. And then she'd be back to work. She wasn't entirely sure what Namjoon would be doing, she actually hadn't had much time to talk with him recently. He'd been out quite a bit and sometimes she'd come home at night, and he still wouldn't be home.
Jimin assured her he was still attending his therapy sessions though, so she wasn't worried. They'd have time to relax once she took care of whoever was moving against her, once and for all.
"Thanks."
"Ready?"
"As I'll ever be." Jimin swept the door open chivalrously and followed her out of the room. They were using one of the hotels the Parks owned, to make it easier on guests after the ceremony.
The actual wedding party was small. Jimin had offered to be Y/N's best man when she had gotten stuck on who to have on her side. She was planning on simply foregoing it, it wasn't like she'd had anyone reliable enough to stick around in her life, but he'd saved her the bother of explaining something like that to people.
All of Namjoon's friends, and to some extent hers, were involved in the wedding/ascension ceremony. Yoongi was officiating, an important role considering his position as heir to the Min family. It was essentially an acknowledgement of Y/N's role and an implicit agreement to stay on good terms with the soon-to-be Chairwoman. Hoseok was Namjoon's best man, an unusual choice considering he belonged to a different family. But having been Namjoon's close dancing partner for years, it made sense.
Taehyung was the ring bearer, having rock, paper, scissored for it with Jungkook. Jungkook was, instead, co-hosting the reception and following ceremony with Jin. Making sure everything went smoothly and there were no scenes made.
