Chapter 18

Chleo's POV

Looking at her she look so frail as if you would touched her you might hurt her. Just by looking at her one could see that she's suffering. Underneath to all these wires and pipes lay my best friend just five months ago we where laughing and enjoying our lives making all kinds of plans for the future.

Who knew that what we thought was a simple cold turned out to be lung cancer.

Ive started to basically live in the hospital with her and my parents would have to drag me home at times.

Everyone has said they're goodbyes. How can they say goodbye when she's still alive. How? How can they say goodbye so easily. She'll get better. I wanted to die when they told me it's my turn to say goodbye. " Mom I won't say goodbye, Stace isn't dead why should I say goodbye." I cried with an unbearable pain in my chest, I felt like I can't breath. It's been four days and my parents tried to convince me to do so. Looking at her now I can see everyone was right.

"Hi, Stace" I said trying my best not to break down. She was just staring back at me unable to speak. "They say I should say goodbye to you but I really don't want to, but I'm being selfish it's you that's suffering, you always told me I was selfish guess you're right" I tried to laugh through the tears. "But I'll stop being selfish and let you go. Be free and don't you worry about me, don't you worry about me," Struggling to get the words out. "I love you Stacey. Wait for me." I told her. She took all the energy she had too squeez my hand and give a small smile when a single tear escaped her eyes I heard the heart machine flatlined. She left me. And I lost it.

Woke up unable to breath, feeling my face is wet. That dream is back, the day I said goodbye to my bestfriend. "What's the time?" I asked my self checking the time on my phone. 11pm? Felt like I slept for eight hours. Sleep won't be coming again anytime soon might as well get a snack and watch a movie or something. Kitchen light is on I thought Im the only one in or I miss Mia and wonder how her date went, we didnt really talked about it before she left. When was the last time I went on a date? Doesn't even matter cause Im probably destined to grow old alone. Not paying attention where Im going.

"Ouch" I said. Don't remember a wall here. Looking up I was standing so close to Kai I could hear his heartbeat. "Im so sorry I though I was alone" I said and he was just staring back at me just then I realised I had the most revealing pjs on I didn't think anyone was here so I did not bother to put on a night gown. "Kai?" I said. "Yeah?"he said coming back from what planet he was on "Can I get a bottle of water in the fridge?" I asked. "Sure "he said but not moving.

"Kai?" I said again. "Yeah " he replied again. "You're blocking the way to the fridge" I said.

Looked like he didn't hear me and look confused so I showed him with my eyes that his blocking my way to fridge. "Oh right..sorry...I" but he never finished what he wanted to say. I got the water and was about to open it when the bottle slipped out of my hands which Kai picked up and handed to me and his fingers brushes lightly against mine sending time shockwaves through my entire body. What was that.

"Thank you" I said he just nod. I was about to leave the kitchen when I forgot the snacks. Turning around I walked into Kai again making strands of hair came loose and fall into my face. I swear at that moment time stood still staring back into his brown eyes. Kai gently tugged a strand of hair behind my ear in the process his hand lightly brushed against my cheek. I didn't noticed I was leaning in and he was too with lips inches away from each other. When we got distracted by his ringing phone. I thought I heard him swear. I said a quick goodnight and returned to my room

WTF just happened. Where we just about to kiss? No maybe I was just seeing things. Im sure he doesn't even like me like that besides I don't even know if he can smile or laugh he has been distant and cold since I've met him. Probably because he is my boss.

Settling in bed with a bowl of popcorn and sweets I selected a movie on Netflix when I heard my phone ring. It was Mia. "Ceecee whats up" she asked it sounded a little busy in the background where she was. "Im good, I woke up a few moments ago and cant sleep so now Im in bed with snacks bout to watch. Wednesday" I said

"By the way how did your date go I want to know eeeeveryything" I said making her giggle like a school girl. "He is sooooo romantic" she squaled. "Our date was on his yatch with fairy lights everywhere and nicely decorated he said he wanted our first date to be perfect." She said. "Oh wow Im so jealous come show me pictures" I said and heard my phones message notification going off.

She was so excited we talked for an hour about her date completely forgotten about the movie. "Sooo I phoned Kai earlier, is something going on between you and Kai? You have my blessing" She asked. "No don't be silly I accidentally walked into him when I went to get the snacks , I dont know what he told you" I told her. We talked for a few more minutes before saying our goodbyes and I continued with watching Netflix.
