"well nearly a year , and i have to, it's a part of my culture Katara, as an air nomad i have to do training, i hope you understand" Aang rubbed his neck
"b-but Aang i can't wait that long" Katara pleaded with Aang holding his hands
"i promise as soon as i get back, i will make it all up to you, i swear" Aang held a pinkie promise
Aang instead of having a pinkie in return was interrupted with a hug and kiss that was all of a sudden and rough
"be back as soon as soon as you can Aang" Katara put her finger on his lips as they finished
Aang smiled softly at Katara
"i promise" Aang held Katara's arms and hugged her
The couple then told the gang which was not as sad as Katara which was understandable because Katara was Aang's girlfriend but when they got back to their hotel room, seeing Aang pack was the worse feeling to Katara
"so you are just going to leave like that?" Katara put her hands on her hip
"well if you want me to come back soon, listen i swear i will try come before Christmas" Aang said packing his last shirt in his suitcase
Katara's eye were teary and when Aang turned around, he noticed her on the verge of tears
"hey Katara don't worry i will stay with you for the night okay?" Aang hugged Katara
"but why?" Katara cried up more
Aang wiped them
"please don't cry, you had all the another years without me, you can handle this, you are strong and i know that for sure ~" Aang winked making Katara slightly smile
Katara hugged Aang and they sure did not waste the night away, having walks, watching tv and eating and etc. But when the sunset rolled the next day, the gang waved goodbye to Aang as he boarded the plane but Katara was more emotional than the gang ever was and ever will be
"I will be back as soon as i can" Aang kiss Katara on the lips
Katara held him tighter
"CALL ME WHEN YOU CAN" Katara waved as Aang went on the plane
The days, weeks and months grew by slowly, she thought being without alone in the hotel room was fine but it made it worse with the missing bed space and made her miss his scent dearly and when Katara was back at school, Aang seemed more distance as the call fewer by the weeks,
(i wonder when he will come back) she thought day and night till she could not say it no more and squeezed her ring, reminding her of him
And Katara noticed the gang didn't even mention Aang's name after a few weeks since he left
(he probably not coming back) Katara thought as her tears ran down her cheek. it's like the others didn't care about Aang
but she did
"something wrong sis?" Sokka walked in her room and leaned on the door frame like always
"no everything's fine" Katara wiped her tears, not facing Sokka at the same time
"tomorrow is prom night and you seem down, tell me what's wrong!" Sokka walked to his crying sister
"FINE EVERYTHING ISN'T ALRIGHT AND I THOUGHT YOU NOTICED BECAUSE YOU DON'T EVEN CARE AANG IS GONE AND HOW AM I GOING TO PROM WITHOUT HIM, don't you know how much i miss him, i know it's selfish but i want him back" Katara cried
Sokka frowned and hugged his grieving sister
"Aang's not gone, his taking training i know his coming back soon Katara..."Sokka hugged his sister tighter
"and Christmas is rolling around so i really know, soon" Sokka patted his sister's shoulder
Katara squeezed her ring
"i don't know Sokka, i hope..." Katara smiled after her brothe r made her better that he cared that Aang was gone
The next day school had pasted and Katara went home and went to her desk and buried her head in her arms
(you can do this Katara, Aang will come back to you soon) Katara thought as she looked out the clean window
"something wrong?" Malina was at her door knocking
"oh nothing!" Katara yelled
"ok if you need help getting ready, please do tell me!" Malina said smiling
"yeah i will" Katara sighed
Malina opened the door slowly
"i also got you a dress" Malina showed up to Katara
Katara turned around
"Malina! don't you think that's a bit too much!" Katara said trying to refuse such a fancy dress
"don't worry, tonight is meant to be your night, live it!" Malina laid it on the chair and waved, exiting her room, closing the door
Katara sighed
(i am going to live the night) she went on the bright side and smiled
She got up and changed

"wow this is long!" Katara twirled in her dress
She stopped and saw Aang's ring on her desk that he gave to her and smiled and put it on and did her hair, half down and half up and put on her signature makeup, but not as much makeup and picked a small bag to carry and went down stairs to see Sokka in a suit with Toph's stunning green dress
"you look stunning Toph!" Katara gasped covering her mouth
"meh" Toph gesturing
Sokka and Katara laughed and Sokka kiss Toph's cheek making her red
"ok ladies, let's go!" Sokka persisted as he got up
They got in a car and met Suki and Zuko at the hall that magically turned into a party and sat down at their tables like instructed
"you guys excited?" Suki asked as they sat down around the table
"yeah, i wish Aang was here" Zuko said
The gang looked at Katara's reaction
"well don't worry about Aang we will see him on Christmas so let's just waste this night away!" Katara said
The gang agreed and after the little speech from the principle they got up and danced till the food was ready to be served
