I hate it.
I hate voting so much. Especially when it's fan voting, which is basically all awards when it comes to kpop.
I hate fan voting bc it's purely a popularity contest. It doesn't matter if a group did better than the others, even when it's painstakingly obvious, it's about which fandom wants their group to win the most. Which is extremely obnoxious.
It's essentially who has the most fans and how badly they want their fave to win. And that's so stupid.
Fan voting shouldn't even exist because bigger fandoms never give credit where it's due. They just want their fave to have all the awards, even though there are many other artist who also deserve said awards.
For example, bts won an award for best dance performance with boy with love when other groups like monsta x, seventeen, exo, and nuest were also nominees. They had choreo that was a bit more difficult than bwl. I thought this award would at least go to svt or monsta x.
And before sensitive army's come in crying, "oh so ur saying they don't deserve it blah blah blah", no. That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is I thought these awards would go to the groups that fit the criteria the most. Meaning the complexity and difficulty along with stage presence. That's why I think svt/ monsta x was robbed.
Another example was recently, during road to kingdom, the boyz and oneus did a collab performance and it was very inspiring. They did a cover of heroine by Sunmi, putting their own twist on the song. It was a great version and had a beautiful message which essentially was: we're friends before competitors.
It doesn't matter if we're competing against each other, we're all friends and we all work hard.
They added their own complex choreo, their own rap, changed some of the vocals, even added the fan chants of ALL the idol groups that were competing. And guess what.
They placed third.
I was shocked when they didn't place first. Their performance had emotion, an amazing message and even better vocals and dancing.
But imagine my surprise when I saw who placed first and second.

The performances that did popular songs from popular groups.
Of course when fans saw their faves song being covered, u know they viewed it a lot more for that performance which irked tf outta me. Again with the not giving credit where it's due.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the other groups sucked. I'm a fan of pretty much every group that went on rtk. It still blows my mind how these groups are underrated and slept on when they have so much talent. However, do I think them performing popular songs from popular groups helped their votes? Yeah, a little bit.
Leave voting up to professionals and ppl who are neutral to all groups. They will go in with an unbiased opinion and give the awards to the artists that best fit the criteria.
Also, isn't mama shady? Like they manipulated the charts or was payed off for something? Idk, I just heard mama awards are rigged.
Anyways, I hate fan voting, wish it never existed, fans please give credit where it's due.
