Two months later
After co parenting for the last two months and trying to get along. Bucky finally convinced Aubrie to have dinner with him so they could talk. She came over after work after she went home showered and changed. He had Kamryn asleep in the swing while he finished up dinner.
He heard heels clicking across the marble floor. He looked up to see her. "You do know it's December and you are wearing heels." He said
"They are boots with heels. And they are cute. How was your day off?" She said as she laid her stuff by the couch and followed him back to the kitchen.
"It was good. Took two naps with her and taught her all about mergers and analytics." He said
"Stop it.." she said
"Need I remind you that you get pay checks from me." He said
"So I get pay checks from other businesses too.." she said
"How was your date last night? Things with Wanda's brother going well?" He said
"I ended it last night.." she said
"After going on 5 dates in the last month?" He said
"Six dates if you count the date me and him went on before you came back. It just wasn't going to work." She said as she sat on his bar top.
"Dinner is ready." He said as he turned off the burners.
With the swing close by the table they sat down to eat. At first it was quiet till he finally broke the ice.
"So Sam told me that you have been through a lot..Nat reiterated that when she came down with the others. She even said that someone who shouldn't of hurt you did. So I want to know what they mean?" He said
She took a big sip of her wine. "When..when I was 2..my real dad left me and my mom. She met a Charlie when I was 3. That's why he is dad to me he's the man that raised me the man that stepped up when he didn't have to. O'Connor is my real dad's last name. We couldn't find him after he had filed for divorce so Charlie couldn't adopt me but he always said that was fine cause he said in his mind I was his daughter even if I didn't have his last name." She said
Bucky looked over at Kamryn then back at her. "I have an ex husband that I was married to for two years. He and I met while I attended Brown. He was best friends with my friend Jana's husband Greg. He was a party boy when we got married at 23 he moved to LA with me. And that's when all of our marriage problems began. Because he was around more drugs and parties. He became a different person..he used me as a money bank and abused me..but I stayed because I loved him. Until I found him banging my boss of the LA times at a holiday party completely high and loaded out of his mind. I left him there we got into when he came home and and I called the police. While he was locked up I used that as my opportunity to get out." She said
"Aubrie..I'm sorry.." he whispered
"The reason why I took three weeks off Buck. I wasn't trying to hide from you..I went to Dallas cause he was harassing my parents trying to find me. I went to try and send him back to LA. But that didn't go the way I had planned. He pulled a gun on me.." she said but was cut off by his fork dropping on his plate.
"Sorry..he pulled a gun on you? Why?" He said
"Because he refused to go back without me. He was loaded on pain pills and drunk. He cold cocked me with the bottom of the gun when he heard the sirens. I didn't want people asking questions about why I had this huge black eye. Especially you.." she said as she went to get more food.
He looked down. "You were being a complete ass. That's why I didn't tell you I honestly didn't think you would care. Till Natasha told me that she was keeping you updated on everything in emails for the four months you were gone. She said you told her to do that cause I didn't respond to your flowers." She said as she sat back down.
"I was hoping it would get you to talk to me not put them in your bathroom." He said
She looked down. "Aubrie..i was mad that you didn't tell me. I felt like that was something I should of been told first. And yes I realized I screwed up that night you looked so gorgeous and I couldn't wait to take you home when you stepped out of the car. And the reason why I started sleeping with Daisy again..was because Daisy atleast acted like she wanted it with me. You became distant and started going home after sex. I know it was fake and all but damn Aubrie.." he said
"Can we not talk about sex.." she said as she poured more wine.
"She has no idea what we are talking about?" He said
"I just don't want to talk about it." She said as they cleared the table and cut some slices of peanut butter pie.
While they ate their pie she fed Kamryn when she woke up. When she was done she laid her in the crib in Bucky's nursery he had set up. She found him on the balcony as snow fell.
"I've been going to therapy. I was doing virtual therapy sessions in NC so I didn't have to switch therapists. It's been helping." He said
"I know Nikki told me and that's good. Cause for the life of me I can't understand how you ended up being like this. That night I had dinner with your parents for the first time I heard so many stories about you. But then I went into your room and found fake contracts and fake contacts..numbers on your headboard and desk." She said with a smile.
"Don't make fun of me. I had my own dreams and my own plans." He said as he looked at her.
"I ended things with Pietro because..Um well how can I say this politely..." she said
"Darlin I went high school with him. If the next words out of your mouth is he finishes before the girl then I already know..and you just had a baby. Why are you having sex?" He said
"I was cleared right before thanksgiving. I tried twice with him it wasn't working out. Just like orgasms didn't come as easy with Jay either." She said
"So you dumped P cause he can't get you off. That's harsh.." he said
She nudged him.
"I'm just saying.." he said as they went back inside.
He turned on the fire place. "Stay a little longer and watch a movie with me." He said
"Okay..but I'm going to get another piece of pie." She said as she went into the kitchen.
She came back out and sat down beside him and watched the movie. By the end of the second movie it was 2AM.
"Stay..I'll be good I swear." He whispered as they stood up.
"No funny business." She whispered
"I promise.." he said as they went into his bedroom.
She slept in one of his t shirts and helped with Kamryn when she was fussy. The next morning she woke up to him making breakfast.
