C H A P T E R 10

The king and his men walk over to the royal pack seating that has been empty for many years before.

"Well we were not expecting to be here but as the current events have shown we all need to be aiding to find a solution," King Sinclair said.

All packs had their eyes on them listening, I turned to Aiden who had the same bewildered expression as me. I looked around and most men were scared as for the woman it was a mix of fear and lust. After all, I was not blind to see his beauty that was shown before me. 

Zayden hesitantly asked, "What do you think the black smoke was, my king?"

"I would love to know the answer to all of this as all of you," King Sinclair replied.

"All we know is that it came out of nowhere with a big earthquake coming before it. Also when someone is touched by the unfamiliar smoke they die and are marked near their eye," a member said from the crowd.

The king looked at his men talking with their eyes most likely mind linking between them. It was silent for the most part as we waited for them to speak.

"I haven't seen anything like it in my lifetime but we need to find its origin before it causes more harm to the pack and its land," King Sinclair said neutrality.

"What would you like us to do King?" Zayden asked.

"I am still guessing the warrior Midnight pack is the top pack other than the royal one. I would like them to stay at my grounds for the time being to help us find out whatever the hell that black smoke is?" King Sinclair replied.

"The alpha, beta, and head warrior will come with me and my pack home and stay with us until further notice. The gamma will go back to Midnight and oversee the pack's daily duties" the king continued.

What the fuck, the king wants us to go back to his pack to help. No normal werewolf has ever stepped foot into their lands ever unless they were a mate of one of the lycans. Almost all the wolves in this room were surprised that not only a lycan but the king invited wolves into his territory.

"Oh and if I made it sound like an option it wasn't, it was an order," the king said, and with that, he and his men walked out of the conference room. 

Once the lycans were gone the wolves were in an uproar on what step should be taken next.

"Well the king has voiced his opinion so the rest of you will go on with your daily lives and the three wolves from Midnight will meet the king and men after this meeting. Other than that all topics have been spoken for so dismissed" Zayden concluded.

 With that, all wolves moved from their seats to go towards the exit.

I turned to the boys and said "What the hell was that."

"I have no fucking idea but this is the best shot the wolves have to figure out wherever the weird attack came from," Aiden said as we walked behind others to leave.

Once we got to the doors we moved to leave but before we could do that the twins that accompanied the king blocked us. 

"The king is awaiting the presence of your alpha, beta, and head warrior," one of them said.

We nodded and followed them to find the king as Lukas went back to our house. They led us to a private room in the building and let us enter without them. Sitting in the middle of the room was the king having a drink.

Without looking at us the king said, "Thank you for joining me today, we will depart tonight and head to Gunnison, Colorado where the royal pack is located." 

He looked up from his seat at the table and continued "that will be all for now. Meet us at six in the evening to ride together."

We turned to leave but before we did King Sinclair said "Not the girl."

Oh, fuck what does he want from me? Aiden gave me a reassurance nod and then I turned back to look at the king as we waited for Aiden and Xaiver to leave the room.

"A woman beta. Huh, it's been a long time since I have seen that" King Sinclair said as he walked towards me.

Getting slightly angry at his comment I fired back "What are we not strong enough?"

"No, it's not that sweetheart, just not most girls are ever given the position when born. It's usually the firstborn male birthed from the beta" he said looking down at me.

Ignoring the fact that he called me sweetheart the king was towering over me with his 6'0 height to my 5'5. King Sinclair analyzed me head to toe and I started to get uncomfortable under his gaze. 

Looking me up and down he said under his breath "Pretty though."

My heart skipping a beat, I said "I was appointed as beta after I defeated the previous one in battle."

"Ahh that makes more sense, I can sense a fire in you," the king said with a little gleam in his eyes. 

King Sinclair walked back to his seat and then took a sip from his drink.

"Well you may leave now, just my curiosity taking over me," he said dismissing me quickly, looking back down at whatever work he was doing before we had arrived.

I walked out of the room very confused, the man was very, um never mind I can't even out a word to him that describes him. Although I did get a sense of butterflies around him, especially when called me sweetheart. Blushing I walked out of the building fast to pack my things to leave the same day. After lunch I took a nap to refuel myself for the journey we would take to Colorado.

"Do you think it's snowing in Colorado? Oh my god, we can make snow angels and snowman, so exciting" Aiden said excitedly.

Xavier laughed at his childish behavior as we got in the car. From the corner of my eye, I saw King Sinclair staring at me across the courtyard near their car. Heated from his gaze, I swiftly hopped in pretending I hadn't noticed him. 

Well, this is going to be eventful.
