"W-why would they start such mess?!"

"Are you sure?!"

Unnecessary questions and unpleasant responses filled the room as the villainess tried to cover her ears.

'This ladies sure scream loud.'

"I don't believe they would start such havoc!" The heroine defended.

"Belief is a strong and blinding word..." Retorted the duchess. "Just think about it, that sacred scriptures they call, started this entire mess."

"But they will never hurt nor start such stuff!"

"Are you blind?! They burned my sister!"

'So she's related to who again?' The villainess rest her face on top of her right hand.

"Your highness, I'm afraid you need to use your mind and think."

'Oh, a bit offending. No matter how I think of it, your still one of my favorite character! Take the role as a villainess since I'm tired!'

"But even so they will never start it!"

"You are speaking nonsense. Just let me explain."

With those words, the screaming stop. The terrified-looking heroine gazes at the firm and calm duchess with skepticism.

"As I said, the day the scriptures were distributed, was also the day witch trials began."

"But even so I work for the church and I am the light mage! I know everything what's going inside the church and I can prove that they weren't the one who started it!" The heroine once again defended.

"Her highness has a point...."

A lady whispered as she looks at the duchess.

'Huh? She must be one of the heroine's social circle.'

The duchess gritted her teeth in frustration and glared at everyone.

"You only knew what happened inside but have you read the translated scriptures?" Her pupils flared as she gazes at everyone with despise. The heroine frown as she looks down and pouts.

'Acting cute won't save your ass.'

"See? You haven't even browse it yet you spoke of working for the church. As I was saying, the translated scripture was pointing out that some nobles got their magic from the devil and dragons. In other words, we are talking about-"

"Someone with the power to manipulate the sacred writings." The duchess and villainess both stated. Well actually, the villainess accidentally spoke, earning the attention of Aira.

"Exactly lady Knile. It seems you are the only one who can help me right away."

Surprised, the villainess shyly looks towards her left.

"Oh, it was just a guess."

'Why the hyll did I spoke?!' (Hehe-)

"So it's not the church?" Celestine ask.

"We are not sure, but judging from how her highness reacted it might not be them." The duchess concluded, hands-on chin.

'Holy-..'

"But even so, proving their innocence might be hard. The church and royal family do not have a good relationship. Who knows they must be using her highness to take control of the nobility and gain more political power." Knile blankly answered.

'I can't let this opportunity of blaming the church go to waste.'

"What?! They wouldn't!"

'Ah, she snaps ~'

"The priest and the worshippers are too kind to planned something like that. They will never use me!"

"A good ruler must be open to new possibilities." The duchess spoke, glancing at the Empress who gulped. "Lady Knile's theory makes sense."

"So the church distributed the scripture to make the peasants think that the nobles use dark magic which came from the dragons who are humanity's greatest enemy? Wow, that does make sense." Celestine acknowledged. "Though it sounds like fiction."

"But even so they will nev-"

"Your highness, if you keep denying facts, the nobility will suffer. Please understand how your subjects think and how it will affect the Empire if this continues." The villainess carefully looks at her. Some of the ladies seem to agree with her.

'Facts? It's all a lie. A lie I created to hide the truth that it wasn't the church but me. I was to blame.'

"The church is trying to start a revolution by making the people believed and execute aristocrats? Is that how you two are saying things?" The empress with an amused look, smirk. "That is truly far-fetched"

'Eh?'

"Oh? Then do you have any ideas who?"

"...."

"You aren't that worried empress? Your subjects are slowly being exterminated. Without them, the empire won't run like before." Knile pointed the obvious as her sister looks at her surprised.

'Did she just mock her majesty?!' Celestine thought as her face grimace.

"Do you want a death sentence?" Ask the empress who glared at her.

"The empress doesn't have the power to execute us." The duchess joined the argument as she grins. "Only the Emperor and the other dukes."

The atmosphere went cold and some of the ladies look frightened.

"So, is it the church or what?" Celestine, without a care about everyone's feeling, ask. This causes some ladies to just look down. They felt as if they don't have the position to participate just like her.

"Indeed. The church may be indirectly attacking the monarch by making commoners kill the lower nobility by manipulating the information. The scripture also spoke about killing dark mages before they end the world. I again heard some rumors about the church trying to destroy the current monarch through revolution." Duchess Leyn stated her findings as she sat. "If that's the case then who is the mastermind? Is it the priest?"

'Celestia, you sure are talented at scattering gossips so fast.'

"That makes sense.." A viscountess with chocolate brown eyes spoke while the heroine looks at her in shock.

"No. It can't be... The church is not to blame. If the scriptures started the chaos, then we shall investigate the magic tower for they were the ones who translated it..."

Stun, the duchess rose again from her seat and gaze at the crown princess.

"Why did you not said that earlier?!"
