A couple days passed, which meant tonight was the night of the wake. Ki and I have been working together to plan out all of the funeral services. I found peace knowing that I was making it the best service possible but my heart was aching beyond belief.

Ki was doing a pretty good job at keeping me distracted. She would get me out of the house every day so I could show her around my hometown. It was a good way of keeping me from falling into a depression.

I was so grateful for her.

"Come on, let's go to the store and get a new dress for the wake." Ki said and pulled my hands so I would stand up. "I was just gonna wear a black dress." I said with a sigh as she nodded. "Yeah, but then what will you wear at the funeral tomorrow?" She asked as I sighed.

"The same black dress." I said as she shook her head. "I didn't know your grandma but she seemed like a fashionable lady. She would never let you wear the same black dress twice. Come on, V. It will be fun." She said as I groaned and stood up.

"Okay, but we have to be there by 5 to set up the food." I said and went to the closet to grab a new sweatshirt since the one I was wearing was crusty and probably smelled like ass.

"Atta girl. Get your hot ass up." Ki said causing me to grin. "I missed you, ya know." I said as she nodded. "I know. I'm the hottest, coolest bitch you know." She said then flipped her long brown hair.

Once we were both ready we went to the mall so we could find a new black dress.

When we got to the mall we went to H&M since it was probably our best bet at finding a cute but classy black dress.

"What about this one?" Ki asked and held up a plain black dress. It was nice but looked exactly like the one I already had. "It looks like the one I have." I said as she nodded. "You're right." She said then put it back.

"These all look the same." I said with a sigh and looked at the time. "We have an hour and a half to get ready...I think I'm just gonna wear my other-" I started but was interrupted by Ki holding up another dress.

It was short enough to be stylish but long enough to be appropriate. It had a v neck line with thick straps and sinched at the waist. There was rose detailing on the lace skirt which looked gorgeous.

"Grams would love it." I said with a small smile and took it from her. "Yeah, she would have." Ki said then draped it over her arm. "Let's go." She said then linked her other arm through mine.

We paid for the dress then made our way home so we could get ready to go set up. I did a subtle make up look since there was a high chance that I would cry today. I then straightened my hair and put my dress on, along with some strapped heals.

"You look gorgeous, V." Ki said and smiled at me. "So do you." I said as she fluffed her curled hair out. "Thank you, thank you. Come on, we're late." She said then took my hand and led me out of the room.

Beatrice was an actual angel and was going to pick up the food so all we had to do was go to the funeral home and set it all up.

When we got there we were met by the funeral director. "Hi, Violet how are you doing?" He asked and gave me a hug. "I'm doing okay. Getting through it." I said and smiled sadly as I looked over at the casket.

"The flowers look beautiful." I said and brought my hand to the necklace grams gave me. "You did a good job picking them out." Ki said as I nodded. "Thank you." I said and walked over to the casket.

"Hi grams, I hope you're here with us today." I said and put my hand on hers. I smiled down at her for just a second before turning around.

"Okay, sweetie. Where did you want to set up the food?" Beatrice asked as I looked around the room. "Umm....how about over here?" I suggested and pointed over to the other side of the room. "Sounds good." She said then turned to walk back outside.

Ki, Beatrice, and I spent the next half hour setting up the food. We decided to get grams favorite foods to celebrate her.

I also decided we should have a table of photos from her life, it took a while to collect all of them but she loved pictures so I wanted them to be a part of her funeral.

As we finished setting up people started coming. We weren't expecting too many people but it still made my heart happy that anyone wanted to come and celebrate gram's life.

I stood over by the casket next to Ki so people could come talk to me then visit grams.

"Hey, Violet. I'm so sorry for your loss." One of the nurses who worked at the nursing home said as she came up to me. "Thank you. She loved you ya know? She would always talk about your pretty red hair." I said and gestured to her hair.

"She was a character, wasn't she?" She said and looked over towards the photo table. "She was, I'm gonna miss her." I said as my lip quivered. "I know sweetheart." She said and gave me a hug.

I tried to keep myself together but the thought of being the only person in my family that was alive was making my heart break.

I have never felt so alone.

I was able to pull myself together enough to talk to the next couple people. Ki held my hand tightly, offering me comfort.

I was so beyond grateful that she was here. I really didn't know what I did to deserve her as a friend.

"Did you want something to eat?" Ki asked quietly as I wiped my eyes for the millionth time. "No, I'm okay." I said and sniffled, brushing my hair behind my ears.

I looked down at my feet, trying to collect myself as someone came up to me. I sniffled then looked up, only to be met by a familiar face. "S-Sam?" I asked as he nodded and pulled me in for a hug. "What are you doing here?" I asked as I closed my eyes, hugging him tightly.

"Ki called us. She thought you would need a little support." He said as I pulled away. "Us?" I asked as he grinned and stepped aside, revealing Kat, Devyn, Cassie, and Tara. "What are you doing here?!" I asked as tears flowed down my cheeks.

"We've missed you. I'm so sorry about your grandma." Kat said as she hugged me tightly. "Thank you....thanks for being here." I said then hugged Devyn.

"We couldn't let you go through this alone." She said as I hugged Cassie. "I love you guys.." I whispered and hugged Tara.

"How've you been? I know this has been hard for you but other than that." Tara asked as Ki hugged me. "I've been okay. Things have been hard but I'm getting through it." I said and wiped my eyes.

"We're proud of you." Sam said as I smiled. "Thank you." I said then sighed. "Anyways, there's some food over there, and pictures that you can look at. I'm so happy you came." I said and smiled at them.

"Of course we came. We love you." Kat said as the group dispersed. I turned to Ki once they all walked away. "Thank you." I whispered and gave her a hug. "You're welcome, V. They wanted to be here for you."  She said as I smiled.

I was so grateful for them.

I talked to a couple more people before I actually started to get a little hungry. "Is there any way you can grab me some food?" I asked and turned to Ki as a couple people came up to talk to me. "Yeah, of course." She said then walked away.

I sighed then turned to the people in front of me. "Jake! Corey! You came too!" I gasped out then hugged them. "Of course we did, it's good to see you." Corey said as he hugged me tightly. "It's good to see you too." I said then noticed that there was another person with them, standing slightly behind them.

I felt my heart stop when my eyes met a familiar set of blue ones.
