"So what do you do for a living, Violet?" Colby's aunt asked as we set the table for dinner. "I'm an echocardiolgist." I said with a small smile. "Oh, so you're SMART smart." Gage said causing me to laugh.

"Kinda, not really though." I said and shrugged. "Stop being so humble, babe. You're smart." Colby said as we all sat down. "Okay, I'm smart." I said then looked around at Colby's family.

There weren't too many people here. Other than his mom, dad, and brother, there was just his three cousins, his aunt, his uncle, and his grandma and his grandpa.

All of them had the sweetest disposition to them. I felt really comfortable in their presence which I was grateful for since I didn't want to have the paranoia come out today.

I just wanted to enjoy my time with Colby's family.

We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner together, which was really nice. I appreciated that his family wasn't only focusing on me, it made me feel like I was just part of the family.

Once dinner was done I went to the kitchen to help clean up. "You don't have to clean, Violet! You're a guest." Mrs. Brock said as I shrugged. "I'm a guest who you very gracious let come into your home." I said and started washing the dishes.

"Colby!" She called out causing me to laugh. "Here we go." I mumbled as he came into the kitchen. "What's wrong, mom?" He asked as she pointed at me. "Tell her to stop cleaning up." She said as he chuckled.

"Not gonna lie, I'm kind of afraid of her." He said causing me to laugh. "Well you should be afraid of me." Colby's mom said and picked up a knife, staring blankly at him.

"Let's go, Violet." Colby said then tried to pull me away from the sink. "No!" I said and gripped onto it as he laughed. "You're not winning." He said then hiked me over his shoulder. "Noooo!" I giggled out as he carried me out of the room.

"Thank you, Colby!" His mom called out as I laughed and looked up at her as she waved. I expected him to stop in the living room but he kept walking until he got to the foyer.

"What are you doing?" I asked as he grabbed his leather jacket and handed it to me. "We're going on a mini adventure." He said then opened the closet and grabbed another coat which probably belonged to Gage or his dad.

"During thanksgiving?" I asked as he grinned and put his fingers to his lips then put the coat on and opened the door.

"Colby, I don't want to make a bad impression." I whispered as he took my hand and pulled me out of the house. "You won't, they already love you. I just want to show you something." He said then took my hand and started walking down the street.

"I'm nervous." I said as we walked. "Don't be. I think you're really gonna love it." He said quietly then turned and kissed my head.

We walked down the street until we reached a little park. In the middle of the park was a small playground with only a couple pieces of equipment.

"I used to come here with Gage all the time when we were kids." Colby explained as he led me over to the swings. "That's adorable." I said as he grinned. "Being back here brings back so many memories. I actually had my first kiss here." He said as I sat on the swing in front of me.

"Oh?" I asked as Colby walked around so he could push me on the swing. "Yeah, I was 19 years old." He said as I squinted and turned to him. "What?" I asked as he chuckled.

"I'm kidding. I was like 4 and I kissed Suzy Miller on the cheek under the slide." He said and pointed to the slide. "Oh, should I be concerned about this Suzy girl?" I asked jokingly as he laughed.
