When I got back to the bedroom Colby was looking down at his hands, picking at his nails. "I'm sorry, V. I didn't me-" Sam said as I shook my head. "It's no biggie. That was just really hard to watch." I said with a sigh and walked over to Colby, putting my hand over his.

"Are you okay?" I asked as he nodded. "Yeah, im good." He said and looked up at me. I smiled at him then kissed him before turning to walk around the bed.

"I'm gonna send the final notes to Ben, then head to bed." Sam said then stood up with his laptop. "Goodnight." I said and waved to him as he smiled and waved back.

"Are you mad?" Colby asked as so as Sam left. "No, I'm not mad. It just freaked me out, it's fine." I said with a laugh then crawled into bed. "I really wish we never went to go surfing. I'm miserable." He said as I nodded and rested my head on his chest.

"I know how hard it's been but thank you for not trying to be rebellious." I said as he traced circles on my arm.

"I feel like an old man." He said as I laughed. "You are an old man." I said then kissed his cheek. "Get some sleep." I said then sat up and turned the lights off.

I laid back in his arms and listened to his breathing as we slowly dozed off. I fell asleep faster than I thought I would but taking care of Colby honestly felt like a full time job.

I didn't mind it though since I missed the hustle and bustle of working. I felt like I had a purpose when I was taking care of Colby.

We slept peacefully until about 4am when I woke up to Colby screaming in pain.

"Colby!" I cried out as I woke up. He was sitting up but panting as if he was in a ton of pain. "Hey, you're okay. Just breathe with me." I said and got out of bed so I could run to his side. We sat there for a while, as Colby tried to catch his breath. I could tell he was in a lot of pain because he wasn't talking. He was just sitting there clutching onto me as he slowly breathed through the pain.

After a while though he was able to calm down a little bit. Once he was calm I wrapped my arms around him and massaged the back of his head to soothe him.

"You were right." He mumbled as I hugged him. "Huh?" I asked and pulled away so I could look at him. "I had a nightmare about the accident." He said as I shook my head. "We can talk about it, let me just get you some water." I said then kissed him and backed away so I could go to the bathroom and get him some water.

When I came back he was rubbing his face with his hands. "Don't beat yourself up, this was bound to happen eventually, baby." I said and handed him the water.

"I shouldn't have watched it, now I just can't stop reliving it." He said as I shook my head. "It'll go away. Like you said, you lived through it, you're gonna get through this." I said then kissed his cheek.

"I'm sorry." He said as I shook my head. "Don't apologize. Remember when I had those nightmares after Daisy shot me? And after the Biltmore incident? You were there for me, now I'm gonna be here for you. No matter what." I said then tilted his chin up so he would look at me.

"You're the best." He whispered as I shook my head. "No, I just love you." I said then smiled softly and pushed his curls from his face.

I thought about when we first met and how I wanted to one day see his hair curly because I thought it was naturally straight. He promised I would be able to see it this way and now I saw it all the time.

I still could never understand how I got so lucky to randomly stumble upon the love of my life, but I would never take it for granted.

That trip was meant to be.

I calmed Colby down then finally got him to go back to sleep. Once he was asleep I sat up and read. I wasn't tired anymore from all of the commotion.

I sat there and read until the sun started to rise. When it did I quietly got out of bed and went to the balcony so I could watch it. I started thinking about my life again as I did this.

I thought about the nightmare Colby had. It made me nervous that he was going to start having more nightmares about the incident since I knew drowning was one of his fears.

It was killing me that Colby was struggling so much but I was glad I got to be here for him.

"Vi?" Colby called out, bringing me out of my thoughts. "Sorry, I'm here." I said then jogged into the room.

"How'd you sleep?" I asked and sat on the bed next to him. "I slept alright after the dream." He said and took my hand. "What about you?" He asked as I shook my head. "I couldn't fall back asleep." I said as he frowned. "I'm so sorry, V." He said as I shook my head.

"Don't worry about it. I'll probably just take a nap later." I said then scrunched my nose at him. "I'm gonna go make breakfast." I said then hopped out of bed. I was about halfway out of the room when my phone started ringing.

"Shit. Toss me my phone." I said as Colby grabbed it and tossed it to me. "Hello?" I answered after fumbling with it.

"Hey! Violet?" Sophia asked from the other end. "Yeah it's Violet, what's going on?" I asked as she chuckled. "Well...a position opened up if you're still interested." She said as I smiled and looked at Colby.

"Yes! Oh I've been dying to come back." I said and brought my other hand to my cheek. "I'm so glad you said that...I need someone to train an up and coming echocardiologist and I knew you would be perfect for the job." She said as I smiled.

"Sounds like a fun little challenge." I said as Colby scrunched his brow at me. "I need you to start ASAP, is that okay? I know I just sprung this on you." She said as I shook my head.

"No, no..that's fine. I can start whenever." I said as Colby frowned slightly. "Okay, how about tomorrow? Does that work?" She asked as I nodded. "Yep. I'll be there." I said then hung up.

"What was that about?" Colby asked as I danced around the room. "I got my job back!" I said as he chuckled. "I'm losing my full time nurse?" He asked as frowned. "Now I'm just gonna be part time. But that will just make time with eachother more special." I said then went over to give him a kiss.

"I'll miss you." He said as I rubbed my thumb along his cheek. "I know, I'll miss you too. I've just been waiting for this call since I got back to LA." I said as he tilted my head down and kissed my forehead.

"I'm happy for you, V." He said as I smiled. "I get to train someone." I said quietly as he grinned. "Well aren't you just super impressive." He said as I nodded. "I am. You're lucky ya know." I said then stood up to go downstairs to make breakfast.

"I know I am." Colby said as I laughed and shaked my ass slightly, then left the room.

When I got to the kitchen I started making breakfast for everyone since I was now in a fantastic mood. I was so excited to get back to work since it had been so long since I have gotten to do what I actually love.

I was also very excited that I got to train someone to do what I do. I was a little nervous though. What if they didn't like me? What if they tried to make my life a literal hell?

I shook my head at the thought. Sophia knew better than to pair me with someone that she didn't think would like me. She knew about my past with Daisy, I don't think she would try to set me up for failure like that.

Or at least I hoped she wouldn't.
