ZYLITH

We end up in a hospital room of sorts and I look around at the archaic equipment, wondering how anyone could do anything regarding dealing with our people like this. I mean, it's just really sad... As I scan the room, I find Mars laying on a table with tubes and wires hooked to him like some crazy experiment. He looked so weak and so very unlike himself... it was sickening. I have found that humans come in two forms: warriors and breeders. I knew there was something different about Mars the moment I met him, which was why I tried to hard to keep him from being used as an experiment. I just knew there was something about him...

"Like your handiwork?" Agent Holt said with a frown as he crossed his arms.

"I take no pleasure in this. Mars wasn't supposed to have this happen to him... What are you doing to him?"

"We were setting up to operate to get the baby out but Max said that we should wait because someone was coming to help him. I assume that would be you."

"Yes. Can you find me a sterilized syringe so that I can give this to Mars?"

"And what is that?"

"Do I have to explain?" I growled.

"You're not just injecting some alien shit into my son without me knowing what the hell it is. One, he's still a minor, which means that I can still make decisions for him, and two, you really think I'm going to let you just give him something I don't know about? If you can't tell me what's in it then at least tell me what it does."

"Basically, this will allow Mars' stomach to stretch naturally or, well, I guess unnaturally in this case. The expansion allows the baby to avoid the organs and proceed as needed. The baby can allow gravity to pull it away from the organs and grow. It also puts a protective barrier around the child, kind of like a womb but not really. With Mars being the way he is, I'm not sure what this will do because usually we try to get the subject ready for this before this point. What I do know is that it will give him relief."

Agent Holt seemed apprehensive but then looked at his son and sighed.

"Do what you have to, I guess... He couldn't be any worse..."

I nodded, walking over to Mars. I looked at his gorging stomach, reaching out to touch it. The tautness made me shiver but not in the same way Max's did. I was horrified at what had happened and it was good information to present to the scientists when I got back. I went to get the liquid out of the bottle when I looked up and saw what looked like a live feed of the child. Something seemed off and I frowned.

"What is the baby doing?"

"What?"

"The baby... what is it doing?"

Agent Holt walked over to the screen and looked at it closer, making a face.

"It looks like it's holding something..." He suddenly stepped back as if startled. "Oh my god..."

"What is it?"

"Tell me this isn't what it looks like."

I walked away from Mars and he pointed at the screen. I narrowed my eyes and realized that the baby looked like it was wrapped up in something and holding onto something as well. I put my hand over my mouth in disbelief.

"Oh god..."

"Is that what I think it is?"

"Yes... oh no... We need to get it to stop."
