I was thrown into a room that was dark and cold and I shivered. Why was it so cold in here? I got up and started walking around, wondering what I was going to do. I'm not good at the whole rescuing thing; that was something Mars was good at. The last time I was in a room like this, I was scared out of my mind and aliens were making me go unconscious all the time. I tripped over something and fell, but I thought I heard someone else say 'ow' as well as me. I looked back but couldn't make out who was there.

"Who's there?"

"I could ask the same thing... Lights on!" The darkness lightened up a little bit and I could make out Mars' face.

"Mars!"

"Max?" he said, sitting up with the covers over his head like a hoodie. "Why the hell are you here?"

Mars looked extremely sick and very thin. It was like he hadn't eaten since the last time I saw him.

"What's wrong with you? You look like you haven't eaten in months."

"I haven't had an appetite... I've been sick."

Concerned, I found myself leaning over and throwing my hand on his forehead. He was burning up but he was covered in thick blankets. Mars moved his face from mine, giving me an aggravated look.

"What the heck are you doing?"

"You have a fever."

Mars smacked my hand away. "Thanks, Mom."

"Are you seriously still angry?"

"Because of you I ended up here."

"Actually, it's your dad you should blame."

"What?" He swayed a little and shook his head. "Look, I don't know why you're here but you shouldn't be and I'm so tired. Just... leave me alone... Lights off!"

The lights went out and he laid back down, snuggling in the only blankets available. I sighed and pulled my knees up to my chest.

"Could at least say thanks... or give me a blanket..." I mumbled.

"Considering all the shit that I've had to go through and the things I've done for you since the beginning of our friendship, do you really think this one time is going to make up for it?" he said in the dark.

"I didn't think we were taking up tallies for the amount of times we did things for each other."

"We couldn't have because you never did much for me anyway."

"I could have left your sorry ass here."

"I could have let your sorry ass die." Mars snarled.

"Maybe you should have!" I growled.

"At least we agree on something!"

"Fuck you, Mars!"

"Fuck you too!"

"Can I have a blanket?!"

"Yes!" I felt a wadded up blanket hit me in the face. "There's no pillows..."

"Fine..."

"Max?"

"Yeah."

"Thank you..."

"For all those times you've saved me, I thought I'd return the favor. I know it doesn't make up for every time but... for once I could actually be useful."

"I really do wish you hadn't come. I don't know what's going on here but... it's not good."

"Are you still mad at me?"
