The six grandparents stayed away for the rest of October and nearly all of November.

Their kids didn't know how to go on or at least adjust so they got back on their meds and tried to stay the course until they could rip their parents a new one.

"Baby, what are you doing?" Mal raised a brow.

"I'm packing." Marcy thought that'd be obvious.

"Where are we going?"

"To California."

"I'm not sure we can take a vacation right now. We're trying to figure out what to do with our lives and-"

She looked back at him with her luminous olive eyes.

He sent her a flat look. "You've already decided."

She smiled.

"Stop being cute. We have to discuss what to do with our family. Don't give me those eyes."

"But I love you."

Part of him knew she was manipulating him but a larger part didn't care. "How much?"

"Enough to let you touch me again."

He had to admit it hadn't been a lot of that going on. "Prove it."

She crooked her finger at him.

He raced over and swept her up in his arms.

She leaned down to kiss him softly.

"Mommy!" A child called out.

His lips pulled down. "You don't have to go."

She giggled. "Stop it."

He kissed her chin. "Don't go."

"I'm not leaving my baby to danger because you're horny."

He set her on her feet and grumped.

"We'll finish this later." She ran a finger over his chin and sashayed out.

He couldn't wait.

"She's plotting!" Mal railed.

"To leave you? I believe it." Mike wasn't paying too much attention.

"Shut up." Marc groaned. "What is she plotting, Mal?"

"I don't know." Mal admitted. "But she was packing and being flirty."

"Where are you going?" Jude asked.

"That's what I asked her and she pulled out that cute shit."

Mike laughed. "My little sister is cute!"

"Of course. She don't look like you."

"I'm gon hang up on both of you." Marc threatened.

"I'm here." Jude groused.

"I'd call you back."

Mike made a face. He was at the hospital, working (duh) and Mal had conferenced them together to talk about how weird his wife was acting. "Fine. Marce just has a surprise for you."

"Did she tell you that?" Mal demanded.

"If she did, I wouldn't tell you."

Jude sighed heavily. "I think I'm going to hang up. I have to go anyway."

"Me too." Marc huffed. "I'm so tired but at least this is the end of the special projects. I'm going to sleep for the rest of December."

"What about finals?" Mike brought up.
