January 2015

Its lunch break and everyone in the building is in haste in coming and going, some went up to go back with their unfinished work while some hurriedly went down to catch for lunch and be back in a sprint. Most of them too come up singulalrly or with buddies leisurely discussing business and business.

Well, this is Cassandra's world and its pretty normal to her to see different kind of people in suits and formal attire in a different boring ways. It was her life though.

Just like everybody, after buying ber lunch she hurriedly went back to their building and shove past the guard and other people as fast as she can so she could go back to her piled work on her desk. Work had been pretty stressing lately, with all the pressure and promotion on edge, she's pretty much working harder than everyone else. But as she was just about to outrun the group of newbies in front of her thats the time something caught her attention.

She halted for a second then changed her direction a little east as she saw their young president is present, Mr. Alexandro Montes was just a few meters away from her talking to some tall man with broad shoulders that she doesn't recognize at all. She shrug, thinking maybe its the new product consultant, after all its perfect timing if he would be. She have definetely some things to say for the both of them.

The mental image of their project in launch is already playing in her head as if a computer retrieving pieces of information and in several tabs open. She shook her head a little to put herself back to the present and to disperse the image. It was too many and too stressful, in fact it was very stressful. The project was a mess and it needs further market research before it could go in the open and she want to personally explain it to the President.

She look up again as she paced, the two gentleman were obviously walking at their time but the push of many people wanting to ride the elevator pressed them to hurry a bit since it was pretty obvious no one would volunteer joining them in, except for her. But that wasn't the problem, the problem is they were nearing the elevator as she was still a few yards away with them but with all these people she seems so much farther.

Sh*t. She cursed under her breath thinking she can't lose this opportunity. Meeting the president is a bit convenient only if you had schedules ofcourse and she can't certainly bumped into his office without prior notice.

She held her breath then release as she forced herself to double her pace and make a run, her heels keep on ticking the pearly white tiled floor as she hope to reach for them but just as she could say any formal greetings to get their attention the elevator click open and bunch of people inside it move hastily forward making room for them but a mess for her making her launch backward. She tried to pass her way again and shove past those people to ride the elevator but she was a bit too late or maybe too coward.

The elevator dings as it click to close and before she could stop it and say a word, the man the president was talking to, the one she assumes to be the new product consultant suddenly move around turning his head first before his body.

She involuntarily held her breath, her hand hang in mid air while her world frozes for a moment there. Memories flash in her mind as she agitately awaits the man to fully turn wanting denial of her suspicions but the elevator finally close before she could even see better of his pretty face.

She feel numb for being a coward for something. She stood there for a moment analyzing the event. The man, he look very familiar, oddly and deadly familiar. The thought of someone send cold chills in her spine then she shudder and breath heavily.

The man in her thoughts is someone she really could say she doesn't want to be seeing ever again, as in ever.

. . . . . . . . . .

She slid through her swivel chair trying to think things through. She spin the pen in her fingers playing it absentmindedly.

It couldn't be him, could it? But the world was too small and who knows? Crap. This is total crap. She need to focus before she drip herself with impossible thoughts beside this whole new product launching thing which will be held soon enough is getting on her nerves already, she doesn't need anymore addition to that.

She need to focus on this besides the higher ups isn't deciding smoothly with this without dragging all finance and accounting department crazy with all their 'do this, do that', 'cite cost analysis with this scenario, and this' and so on and so forth, their list is pretty infinite and them or her being the receiving end is not pretty happy with it at all.

She muster a sigh and close her eyes deeply. Focus. I need to focus. But hell, Who is that new Product Consultant? Her curiousity is at peak but she shook her head again thinking maybe she's just being paranoid.

"If looks could kill. ." someone broke her chain of thoughts and when she glance up she saw Ariel with his mocking face on her. --"the monitor is already in shitty pieces." He smiled his boyish smile and comfortably sits infront of her desk. He was playing cool and leisurely, a thing he usually do.

Cassandra give him a 'look' before she turn herself again in her computer completely ignoring his side comment.

"too serious ei?" He was sipping his coffee, if he had just made them there or he had brought it with him, Cassandra wasn't pretty sure which. She was hell kind of busy while the other one was feeling so comfortable and luxurious.

She look at him again and found him still smirking yet his face shows he was reading her again. She slumped her shoulder in defeat and spill. "Im too stressed-up for this sh*t. .and its been like what? Six months and its still not on its feet. .market study wasn't even helping them decide. Ugh. . .Sometimes even smart people acts so stupid." She said covering up. She needs to tell him something, well atleast have of it coz she can't really tell him her thoughts were flying a hundred miles out of her brain because she saw some shadows of her past which she wasn't pretty sure if it was or not. Its just too sh*tty.

He grinned replacing his smirk as he said in his usual tranquil voice. "Calm down. .besides we've already done our part. . Hmm. .unless its not whats bothering you, was it?"

He hit her almost right but she didn't flinch or show any signs of it, but she just glance another way still not making eye contact afraid to him that he'll read too much of her thoughts.

Ariel is her best friend and his frantic maniac about psychology freaks her out because he reads her like she was so open herself when in fact she'd been hiding every part of her as possible.

"its just --sometimes their a pain in my ass y'know. ." she shrug the thought, making an expression about how it is to her.

His eyes held her longer and then he nodded almost in understanding and in curiousity. "your the best Liar in this Earth, yes, but not to me Cass. .not to me."

Yeah, maybe I am the best liar in Earth, and I wish I didn't need to. She so wished to say but keep her lips sealed besides Ariel's eyes never said condemnation, only understanding and want for her to open up, to make her know his there, always there.

"Anyway. .old habits die hard. So that means me not pressing you and taking my leave again. Just give me a ring when you needed me, kay?"

She nodded at him in response as he slowly walked away in her office but had leave her a warm smile before he totally disappear.

I've been changing the story's POV from first person to third person narration so don't wonder why theres updates when theres no added chapters or if the chapters are weirdly in third pov then the next in first person. .my editing is still a work in progress as I also strive to complete this story. ;)
