(adj.) unsophisticated and socially awkward.
Why the hell would they make gauche mean awkward?? Gauche means "left" as in "left hand" in French. Isn't this sort of an insult to left-handed people? Or am I just overthinking it too much.
This word is used to describe someone socially awkward.
Examples:
That girl was so gauche, she didn't speak a single word to anyone, not even the teacher, on her first day of school.
