48: Tobio Kageyama - Kageyama's Crush (Lemon)

- Kageyama's POV -

"Shoyo!"

"(y/n)!" The two annoying voices called out to each other, making me grit my teeth as I secured the net to the poles. Practice was about to start so we were setting up the gym, however Hinata ran towards the door (l/n) was entering with Yachi. I watched as the pair ran up and hugged each other tightly, an irritating feeling of jealousy filling me.

The beginning of third year started a few weeks ago, and since then Yamaguchi had become captain of the team, a new group of decent first years joined us and Yachi went on the hunt to find a new manager she could train for when we were gone. She didn't need to look far however, as one day Hinata stormed into the gym dragging a girl who he introduced as (y/n) (l/n) behind him. "(y/n)'s gonna join our team and be another manager!" He had shouted out confidently.

"If you'll have me," she bowed politely. It was there and then that she joined the team, her having caught my attention numerous times throughout that one evening. She and Hinata seemed incredibly close and it was maddening, although I wasn't sure why. It seemed as though they had been friends since they were little, her saying that Hinata had taught her how to play volleyball. Their close relationship made me jealous, and it wasn't until a couple of months into the school year I realised why I was so jealous.

I had romantic feelings for her, and with every day they got stronger and stronger. She was so motivated to be the manager of our team, but she also had the dedication and the passion. I was quite surprised with how well she could toss as well, her having to do so when we were doing our spiking training.

I found myself unable to take my eyes off of her no matter how hard I tried. All I wanted was to be in her constant company, but she seemed more interested in Hinata than anyone else on the team. The pair of them would always jump around excitedly together, and even during break times at school I spotted the pair of them together. Did she have feelings for him? Did he have feelings for her? Or worst of all... were they already a couple?

I tried to wipe the thought from my brain as I not-so-subtly watched (y/n) from afar whilst she was talking to Yachi on the far side of the hall. "Kageyama!" Ukai called out. "It's your turn to serve!"

"Sorry," I mumbled, glancing away from the girl and taking the ball from him. I perfectly executed the serve, the slamming of the ball on the other side of the court making the two girls jump. Next up was Hinata, who despite being here for two years already, still needed to practice his serves.

"C'mon Shoyo! You can do it!" (y/n) said in a somewhat teasing tone, and I couldn't help but grit my teeth wishing she had said those words to me. Hinata managed to get his serve successfully over the net, it not being too bad. "Your serves seem to be getting better each time," she praised him, walking over with a few of the balls that had accumulated on the other side of the net.

"What about me?" I asked quickly before I could stop myself.

"You're serves are always amazing Kageyama," she said as though it was the most obvious thing in the world and I found my cheeks burning up.

Like everyday, practice continued like that and like everyday we all walked home together, slowly peeling apart as the team went in different directions to their house. At the turning point where we said goodbye to Hinata, (y/n) was once again going with him. She often went over to his house, at least three times a week and I couldn't help but clench my fists in my pocket. I watched as she climbed on the back of his bike, the two of them riding down the road and out of sight.
