A Brother's Deception. Prologue, A Client's Settlement.

Caleb Morgan stood up from his desk, walking over to his window at Morgan & Thompson LLP Law Firm. He lets out a sign of contentment. Caleb loves his brother Carson, but he had an estrange relationship with their father unlike Caleb.
Their father Cooper desired for both of his sons to be senior partners at his firm & to run it together. Carson declined Cooper’s offer shortly before he passed away, then going to work at his biggest rival firm.
Carson started working at Anderson, Walters & Morgan LLP Law Firm. They were delighted to have him work with them. It didn’t take long for Carson to move up to senior partner.
Caleb & Carson would get along for the most part, but Caleb would shake his head at his brother’s wild ways.
Carson Morgan would set his mind on something, he would go after it no matter the cost. One of these conquests he was set on was the circuit judge Heather Andrews.
The biggest was problem with this relationship, is that Heather was married to Paul Andrews. Though he was a sales rep, he was a very powerful man. But Carson didn’t seem to let that hinder his pursuit of Heather, though they were discretion in meeting up. Both Carson & Heather thought of it as exciting, Paul was on business trips & unaware of these meetings between them.
While Caleb was looking out his window, he drank some of his Mocha Latte that was brought to him from his girlfriend Dakota Williams. Caleb was in love with Dakota over the couple of years they had been dating for a couple of years.
Dakota was a director of the Fort Dallas Children’s Home, she & Caleb met when he decided to make a donation to the children’s home.
What surprised Caleb is that she didn’t join her family’s oil firm. Her family’s business was Williams Oil Flow Firm., they were very successful outside the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Dakota noticed that Caleb was deep in thought,
“ Caleb, a penny for your thoughts? “
Caleb smiles at Dakota, his thoughts were on how successful her family’s business was & how they were looking for legal representation.
“Thanks for the coffee, Love. Just thinking of the bid for your family’s business. “
Dakota smiles, “ You’re welcome. I know you should get the bid. I do hope you get it. Been trying to convince father to just go with you, but now there’s another bid. “
“ Is that why you’re worried? “ Called asks curiously as he kisses Dakota,
“Anderson, Walters & Morgan are the ones who have put the bid in. I hate to see you have to go up against your brother. “
Caleb looks over Dakota’s head out the window at the Dallas skyline, he smiles as he looks at Dakota, “ No worries, my sweet love. I know it’s my brother’s firm, but Rylan & I will pitch our very best. No matter what happens, I love you. “
“ When does this happen, Caleb? “
Caleb leans down kissing Dakota deeply in response, “ My sweet Dakota, no worries. It will happen later today, everyone would be meeting here & using the conference room. “
Dakota smiles, “ Does that mean chances are good of getting the bid?” Caleb shakes his head,
“ Not always. But I am more at ease on my home turf.”

“ it’s a start. I love you too. If you get the bid, it could become more exciting!” Dakota says with a coy smile, they kiss one more time before Dakota leaves. Rylen was waiting at the door to meet with Caleb to go over the pitch.
Caleb & Rylen spend several hours going over the pitch, Williams Oil Flow Firm the business, as well as Daren Williams. And they also try to formulate a plan to inspire Daren to hire them, instead of Caleb’s brother’s firm.
Around three pm, Carson & Bart Anderson showed up & were promptly greeted by Caleb & Rylen.
“ Well, little brother, are you ready to lose this one? “
“ Well, Carson, the real question is… Are you ready for a real fight? I know I am! “
All of them were chuckling, when the elevator doors open. Caleb steps forward with his hand extended towards Daren Williams after he steps off.
“ Good afternoon, Mr. Williams. Welcome to Morgan & Thompson Law Firm. I’m Caleb Morgan & this is my Partner Rylen Thompson. “
After the three shake hands, Caleb turns to the others. “ This is Carson Morgan & Bart Anderson of Anderson, Walters & Morgan Law Firm. “
Daren shakes Carson & Bart’s hands before speaking,
“ Gentlemen, it’s really interesting & exciting to see two brothers compete for my business. This is how this is going to play out. I want to meet with each firm privately. If I can make my decision quickly, I’ll tell you jointly. Otherwise I’ll tell you separately. Do we understand each other. “ All four men nodded in agreement,
“Alright, I would like to start with Caleb & Rylen. Again thank you for your patience. “
Daren, along with Caleb & Rylen walked into the conference room, where Caleb closed the door behind them.
“ Alright, gentlemen, I’m interested to hear what you have to offer me & my firm? My daughter speaks very highly of this law firm. “
Caleb clears his throat, “ Yes, Mr. Williams, we have a offer for you to seriously consider. “
Between Caleb & Rylen, Daren got to see their plans & ideas as well as their fee. After discussions over a 45 minutes, Daren turns to them,
“ Thank you for your presentation. I need to hear the other law firm’s pitch & I’ll let you know my decision. Again thank you for your time. “
Rylen extends his hand which is warmly received. When Caleb walks up to Daren, he not only receives a strong handshake but a warm hug.
“ I’m starting to see why Dakota is drawn to you. I strongly approve of her choice. “
Out in the lobby, Carson was deep in thought about what Heather told him one night after they made love. “ My darling, I heard about your new potential client. “
What’s that little darling’? “ Carson inquires as he takes a drag off his vape. “ I have some information about Daren’s wife. “ Carson arches his brow at her,
“ What’s that? Daren told me she was on a European vacation, that’s why this is a good time to meet. He’ll be busier after she gets home. ‘
Heather lets out a hallow laugh, “ Ha ha! That’s what you think! She was in front of my mother, who is a trial judge. She was looking at jail time, unless she went to rehab. So he sent her overseas. “
Carson’s eyes widen at Heather’s words, as it started to sink in. This actually could be a good thing, Carson thought. The next day, Carson talked to a IT friend who was also a hacker what to dig up & give the information to. Carson was pulled out of his thoughts by Bart.
“ Are you ready for this? “ Carson gave Bart an evil grin,
I’m more than ready! Caleb won’t have a chance. Watch the master at work. “
Caleb, Rylen & Daren come out of the conference room, Daren turns to Carson & Bart. “ Gentlemen, I’m ready to hear your presentation. “
Daren smiles at Caleb, “ Again thank you for your time. “
Caleb let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding when he takes his phone to text Dakota.
“ Hello, my sweet love. “
“ Hello handsome. How was the meeting? “
“ it was wonderful. Though I was nervous through most of it. I really liked your father. “
You’ll do fine. I believe in you. “
****Conference Room****
During the meeting in the conference room, Bart made the presentation that was very impressive. Daren turns to Carson, “ I’m impressed. What is your price? “
Carson tells him the price, “ is the price negotiable? “
“ No. “
Why should I consider it? “
“ Because of this. “ Carson hands Daren a slip of paper, when Daren looks at it he turns very pale,
“ You’re not to tell anyone of what I know. “
I won’t. “ Daren says weakly
“ Accept our offer. No one will know. Also tell your daughter to leave my brother, without telling her what I know. “
“ They’re talking about spending the rest of their lives together! “
That doesn’t matter. Them dating will be a huge conflict of interest for our business. Plus my brother doesn’t deserve her. End the relationship or the information goes out. “
“ I need some time to think about it.”
“ Take the next 48 hours to think & sort things out. We’ll expect your acceptance then. “ Carson & Bart headed to their firm at this point.
After a few minutes of not seeing Daren coming out of the conference room, Caleb walks into the room to check into him.
“ Mr. Williams, did Carson leave? “
“ The offers were both impressive & excellent. I need some time to think about it.".
Daren says nervously as he gathers up his files. Caleb clasps him on the shoulder,
Take all the time you need. “
“ Will 48 hours be enough? “ Daren gives Caleb a small smile,
“ That’s fine. We’ll here from you then. May I walk you out? “ Caleb escorts Daren to the elevator. When Daren reaches the ground floor, he pulls out his phone & calls Dakota.
Hello Dad. “
“ Baby girl, please come to the house. We need to talk. “
After their phone call, Dakota rushes over to her father's home. When Dakota walks into the home, she saw her father standing by the bar cart. He was drinking some gin from a tumbler.
Father, what's going on? You never drink this early. "
Daren turns to Dakota, " Would you like a drink? You may need one after you hear what I have to say. "
Dakota shook her head, " I'll take a water. By the look on your face, I may need to have a clear head. "
Daren shook his head in agreement, " it's been quite a day. "
Well, I had a feeling it would be. Caleb told me he thought their pitch went well. But I'm sure the firm went as well. "
Daren started pacing the floor trying to choose his words wisely,
" Both offers were very strong. "
" So you're taking your time to consider what is the best for the company. "
Dakota notice Daren was looking out the window. " I'm taking 48 hours to think it over. "
Father, I'll support you no matter what firm you decide on, even if it's not Caleb's. "
Daren hugs her, " That's good to hear. There may be sacrifices we may have to make. "
" What do you mean? " Dakota asks out of concern & curiosity,
" Don't worry. I'll need to see what I can do. Before I say anymore to you. " Daren kisses Dakota on her temple,
Father, if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. Otherwise I'm off to go see Caleb."
" Go my sweet girl. Enjoy yourself. "
After Dakota left, Daren started thinking guilt-filled thoughts. Please Forgive Me, For What I'm Going To Ask Of You!
****Carson's Townhouse****
As Carson finishes up dinner for Heather, he starts humming as he stirs the food. It was a Friday night & Carson was feeling pretty lucky.
Knowing that Heather was coming for a overnight.
There was a knock on the door, Carson smiles seeing Heather on the other side of the door.
" Hello, Beautiful. "
" Hello, yourself Handsome. " Carson smiles as he kisses her deeply, " It's wonderful seeing you tonight. "
How was your day? " Heather asks with a coy smiles as she slaughters into the townhouse.
" It was real good. " Carson states as he puts their plates of food on the dining room table. " I'll tell you about my day.
" While they eat & sip wine Carson continues.
"The day was quiet until we made the pitch for Williams Oil Flow. "
Heather smiles as she sips her wine,
" How did it go? "
He was impressed with everything we presented until our fee. "
" Why is that? Did you lower it? "
Carson laughs, " Hell no! I gave him an offer he can't refuse. " An evil smirk comes over Heather's face,
What did you do? "
" I let him know that I knew about his wife. And he's not to tell anyone, accept our offer. Plus His daughter is to break up with Caleb. "
As Carson & Heather curl up on the couch in front of the fireplace, he looks into the flames.
Heather, I do love my brother. But I refuse to work there. Our father was loving & generous to both of us. But was very ruthless with the law, it became a wall between us. I couldn't work under that type of tension. He had methods I don't agree with, so I left. The firm that hired me is a fierce rival of my father's. Thought it might be fun to compete against them.
"Though Caleb keeps asking for me to come back. "
OK, Carson, what are you trying to say? " Heather rubs his leg to encourage him to continue what he was saying,
" Though our father loved us both, he seemed to favor Caleb more in a lot of ways. Father wouldn't listen to my ideas, so I left. Take away his happiness, how strong will he be in keeping the firm in his hands. "
Is Dakota that important to him? "
" They've been together for two years. They're super close. "
"But wouldn't a break up make him pour more into work? " Heather inquires curiously,
Not if I hit him & the firm fresh after the break up. " Carson smiles as he stands up next to Heather, " Let's take this into the bedroom. "
Carson extends his hand to Heather, when his phone rings. " Hello. "
Carson listens as the caller speaks,
" The relationship needs to discontinue by the time we start to work together. And if you go with the other firm, information on those two grounds will go public! Understood? Let me know on Monday? " Carson smiles & kisses Heather.
" All is good. Let's go & relax. " The happy couple head upstairs towards the bedroom.
****Caleb's Condo****

Caleb & Dakota came in from the pouring down rain laughing, " We're so wet! But it was so fun! "
Inside the door, they strip down to the undergarments. They hop into the shower to warm up by hot water, kissing & hands roaming around each other. Caleb lifts her up against the wall, lining himself with her center thrusting deep inside of her core. After allowing her to adjust, he begins thrusting deep & slow finding her spot.
When her walls started fluttering,
" Caleb, I'm going to come! Faster Caleb Faster! "
" Cum for me sweet Love! " That was it took for Dakota to fall over the edge in pure pleasure, a few thrusts later Caleb meets his release screaming her name.
After they calmed down, they got out drying off. Caleb goes & gets the clothes he brought for her, for when she stays there.
Afterwards they curled up on Caleb's sectional watching the storm rage outside.
" Caleb, I really enjoyed seeing Wonder Woman 1984 while having dinner. The Texas Dinner Theater was an awesome place to go for a date. "
" I love that place. We can go anytime you desire. Would you like something to drink? " Caleb kisses her, after he goes to prepare the drinks, Dakota's phone rings.
Hello, father. "
" Hello, baby girl. How's your evening? "
Concerned Dakota asks, " Good. How are you? You sound serious. "
" it is. But for reasons I can't explain, I think it would wise for you not to continue your relationship with Caleb. It could be a conflict of interest if I pick the other firm. "
How would it be a conflict of interest. I'll support you no matter who you pick. "
Daren cleared his throat, " The other firm is concerned that if I say something to you, that you may leak it to Caleb. Please think of the family & the business. "
" Father, I will consider your request. But I'm not part of the business. It's mostly you & me as family. Mother's never around. That's all I promise. " Dakota wipes a tear away.
Baby girl, I was hoping I wouldn't have to bring this up. "
"What Father? "
" I have proof of some embezzlement that Cooper hushed up. I know that Caleb knows about it. I'm sending you the proof now. "
Daren hangs up as the text comes through her email.
After Dakota looks over the email, the tears started to fall, she tried to wipe them away before Caleb could see them.
Dakota wasn't quick enough, Caleb sets the drinks down wrapping his arms around her. " My sweet love, what's the matter? "
Dakota bursts into tears, Caleb held her until she calms down. Caleb tucks a piece of hair ,
What is it? " Caleb rubs his thumb over her knuckles his eyes looking into hers,
" We need to talk. You're not going to like it... "
