A Brother's Deception. Chapter 7, Milestone. ****
As the Limo pulls up to the Ritz-Carlton, before exiting the two couples switched to who they needed to enter the ballroom with. After Dusty stepped out of the limo, he stretched out his hand towards Dakota. She glances towards Caleb whispering,
"I love you." Dakota blows him a kiss and Caleb catches it,
"I love you too, Kota." Dusty and Dakota walk on in, while Caleb and Hope wait about five minutes before entering to throw things off.
When Dusty and Dakota entered the ballroom seeing the rival trio as Dakota calls them, Carson, Heather & Jax.
"Look Dusty, the rival trio is here! If they come near me, could you distract them while I speak to Mia?" Dusty smiles and nods,
"I'll run interference for you, count on it." Dakota couldn't help but giggle,
"I would really appreciate it." Dakota states smiling as she walks towards Mia,
"Hey girl, is there anything I need to know other than seating?" Mia smiles and nods as she shows Dakota the seating chart,
" I like who you put in the back." Dakota winks and smiles at Mia,
"Well Dakota, there were others who made higher donations than those three, and deserve to seat closer to the front. Plus I saw the tension between you an Jax. I'm not sure where things stand between you and the Caleb, so I put him next to you. Is that alright?" Dakota chuckles,
"It's a real long story, but it's more than OK with me. It's going to upset them, especially if they won't have a clear view of me and Caleb especially. I really don't care." While Dakota and Mia were discussing seating, Dusty sees Carson, Heather and Jax coming into his direction. Then Caleb and Hope walk into the Ballroom,
"Well hello Dusty. How are you this evening?" Dusty arches his brow at the trio,
"I'm good. What's up with you?" Now Carson smiles,
"We know that you're a private investigator, but who do you work for? We're very interested in hiring you." Dusty chuckles,
"Thank you. I'm touched, but I work for myself. That's the way I like it." Carson looks at Dusty in confusion,
"We might be able to offer you more." Dusty looks at Carson with Keen curiosity,
"Maybe. But that's not why I'm self employed." Carson nods as Heather speaks up.
"Dusty, would you considered working for the firm Carson works for? And Have you worked for the firm of Morgan & Thompson before?" Dusty looks at Heather with narrow eyes,
"I don't like to disclose who I work for, because it is several firms. Case by case why?" Carson clears his throat,
"We would like you to work with us exclusively." Dakota walks up to Dusty, slipping her hand through his arm,
"Hello Dusty. Good evening everyone. Thank you for coming and supporting our children. I need to do my rounds. Dusty, would you like to join me?"
"Eh, sure if it will help you get more donations. Let's go." Dakota smiles,
