A Brother’s Deception.                              Chapter 21, Absolution.

****Board Meeting****

The next two days were days of whirlwind for Dakota. At the end of day two, Dakota gathers up the files she needs for the Board meeting. There was a knock on her office door,

“Come in.” Then a big smile crosses Dakota’s face seeing the strong figure in doorway,

“Hey handsome! It’s wonderful seeing you, despite the circumstances.” As he walks over to Dakota, Caleb smirks at her.

“I agree my Love. But I’m not worried because Jacob and you believe me.” A few minutes later Dusty walks into the office,

“Hey,  are you two ready to get this over with.” Dakota and Caleb look at each other,

“Yes, but we will be better off when they realize they’re not going to win.” Caleb states as the three of them leave the office, heading towards the conference room.”

Inside the conference room, Jacob, Cathy, Frank and Peter were sitting at the table. After greetings and introducing Dusty, Dakota turns to Mia.

“Mia, please read the minutes of the last meeting.” Mia pulls out her tablet, starting to read the minutes, causing Dakota to smile.

“Thank you Mia.  Any questions before moving onto new business?” All members shake their heads no, Dakota signs in relief,

“Alright. Onto new business. This is Dusty, he’s a P. I. He works with Caleb, but also Carson Morgan. Carson met with me and Jacob. I’ll let Jacob continue.” Dakota turns to Jacob, who clears his throat.

“A few days ago, Carson Morgan and Jax Anderson brought what they considered evidence  of shady law practices. Here is what they presented to us.”  
                                                                 Dakota passes the file to the Board members, who each looked through the file. Feeling her nerves on end, Dakota takes a drink of water before clearing her throat.

“At this point, it’s time for questions for Caleb, Dusty or even Jacob. Who would like to start first?” Frank clears his throat,

“This is very concerning. You’re our agency attorney, and a Board Member, how do we know you haven’t done anything shady.?” Jacob arches his brow,

“I’ve looked over everything. Nothing shady on duties here.” Frank looks thoughtful while Peter speaks up,
“So what is the story here?” Caleb clears his throat,

“Carson is out to ruin me it seems. This information in front of you is false and planted.” Cheryl arches her brow,

“So Caleb, what is the story between you and your brother?” Caleb nods,

“That’s a great question, Cheryl. Here’s my story…”
                                                                   Caleb continues on with his story. The beginning where Carson wanting to start a firm of their own. There was a deal with a friend of Daren’s ,a deal Carson wanted but Caleb got. The deal with Dakota’s father, along with the cruel break up. All the way to Switzerland, where Caleb assisted Demi to be able to come home. Also their impulse wedding to where they were today.

“Any questions now?” Caleb now asks after she finishes his story,

“Who provided this information?” Peter asks intently,
