"From his journal, we will read entries that expose him as an assassin once and for all."

The priest spoke loudly over all the chatter that had recently erupted.

The priest unraveled the string from the button and ripped open the leather cover.

He furiously flipped through thousands of coffee color pages while the spectators awaited his reading.

He stopped abruptly on a page. He read aloud to anyone who was listening.

"June 26,

Today was different.

Today, my target drank her poison and acted sorrowful.

I wonder if she suspected me.

She has been kind to me.

But I must end her suffering.

Life has been cruel to her.

I can tell.

I recognize it because I can see she has the same twinkle of suffering in her eyes as I have in my eyes.

I'm hopeful the afterlife will be kind to her.

I'm hopeful that this job can be completed quickly.

After all, the job was only to kill Wisteria's royal family.

I want to return to Sicarius as soon as possible.

My family's graves have been rotting alone.

I must return to visit them.

I only have one more target.

The heir to the throne.

George.

I've heard little from his mother.

But I can tell he will be easy.

He seems to be a bit feminine.

He seems to be a bit weak.

I need to hurry.

My family is waiting.

After this job, I will return to them.

I'm hoping they accept me into their arms.

I'm ready to see them once more.

I know Sapnap is waiting for me.

I'll leave him my belongings.

Sapnap, if you're reading this, I've probably passed on.

I went to see them.

I finished the job so you could take my reward from the king and have a life worth living.

A life more than being a brute.

A life worth more than being just another statistic.

Life isn't worth me staying.

Life isn't for me.

Each person I kill leaves me emptier than the last. I wonder why that is.

I have no connection to them, yet I wish I could learn more about them.

Their eyes all have a compassionate sparkle that I long for.

I remember what it felt like to be cared for.

I remember the feeling of being with another.

Now, I'm alone in this world.

Each eye has something I don't recognize.

Something that makes me scream inside.

The eyes of my victims scream for others, not for themselves.

I wonder why that is.

I hope this book finds you well, Sapnap.

My regards to your family.

I'll see you in the afterlife.

Maybe in the afterlife, it's less cruel.

I'll be waiting there once I finish this job.

Goodbye.

- Dream."

Quietness coursed through the veins of the crowd.

The only thing audible was Dream's sobs that rattled everyone's souls.

George's head pounded.

Dream had killed George's mother, Lily.

Why? Why had he taken her from this world?

Why had he taken her from George?

Does Dream even care for George?

Why hadn't Dream just killed George already?

It would be best if he ended George's life quickly.

That way, George could reunite with his mother.

That way, Dream could finish the job, and he could reunite with his family.

George felt nothing but anger at first; soon, it was overflowed with sorrow.

George dug in his heart and tried his best to hate Dream.

However, seeing the blonde man sob as everyone ridiculed him, George felt something twitch in his chest.

Something that made him want to cry out to Dream and tell him that he had forgiven him.

But George stayed silent.

Sapnap's chains rattled in the shadows.

Dream hadn't abandon Sapnap.

He was wrong.

Dream said he wanted to give Sapnap a life worth living.

Sapnap was wrong.

Regret filled his senses as tears threatened to spill over his eyes.

He had been wrong.

Now, Sapnap's own words just killed his best friend.

"As you all heard, Dream had just confessed to killing former Queen Lily! He was truly an assassin! He never finished the job! So, Sapnap here never got to read this, and he never got his luxurious life. Poor thing. With that being said, I would like to ask the jury to discuss Dream's punishment."

The priest stepped off the podium and walked next to George's father.

The two men took wine off of a servant's silver tray.

They laughed at Dream as his head hung low and his body tremored.

The jury whispered amongst themselves. They pointed and jeered at Dream.

Eventually, a representative stood up and walked over to the two men drinking wine.

The representative whispered something in the priest's ear and walked away.

After a couple of moments of discussion between George's father and the priest, the priest stood and walked to the podium.

"A verdict has been reached from our jury."

The crowd seemed to lean closer to the priest, anxious to hear his announcement.

"Dream is hereby sentenced to death by guillotine."
