TW: slight mention of blood
Red water dripped against the busy dungeons walls in the Vesuvian palace, voices murmured in pleading, painful cries.
"Asra! Asra help me!" Your voice calls out, shuttering against the stones.
Asra runs through the hallways and into the dungeons main room, eyes frantically looking for where you were.
"Find y/n..I have to find them.." he murmurs to himself.
However, the whole room is..quiet. Or at least..quieter then the first time he entered. The voices were gone, your pleads disappeared, and you were no where to be seen.
Instead..Quaestor Valdemar is standing at a single operation table, blood covering their uniform.
They chuckle slightly, looking up slowly at him.
"You're looking for your apprentice..aren't you magician?"
Asra nodded, hands shaking. "where..where are they!"
Valdemar gently twirled their scalpel between their gloved fingers. "They're gone, taken away." They grin.
Asra's heart sank. "No...you can't mean.."
Valdemar nodded, no remorse in their eyes. "The lazarat..it claims another victim."
Asra held back a silent scream, and sprinted out the dungeons door. However, when he opens it, it leads out to the lazarat's shores.
Masked patrons stare at him, and he looks around for you. "Y/n!! Y/n where are you!" He cries.
A weak cough answers his cries and when he turns around..
There you are, lying on the sands of the beach, red eyes dripping with blood. Asra sprints over to you, and holds you close.
"No..no..y/n..."
"You...you were too late Asra..." you choke out while tears stream down your cheeks. "You..you could've saved me..."
"Y/n..I..I'm sorry..."
Your eyes narrow as you begin to disappear into ash. "Sorry...isn't enough..." you murmur. "You..you did this to me..."
Asra cups your cheeks in his hands, tears steaming down his cheeks. "I'll fix this..y/n I can fix this..please don't go..please..."
You cough weakly, body fading into nothing but a whisper in the wind.
"No!! Y/n no! Please..please stop..! Please!"
_______________
"NO!"Asra awakes from your bed, palms sweaty from fear. You immediately stir at the sound of his cries, and see him curled up in a slight ball, shaking.
"Asra..?" You murmur quietly.
He freezes, and his eyes look up at yours. No blood, no ash.
"...Y/n..?"
You nod slightly, rubbing your eyes. "..yes..?"
He immediately wraps his arms around you, and you can't help but hold him gently. "I'm sorry..I'm sorry.." he whispers.
"For what..?"
"Leaving you..when you needed me.."
And then you know exactly what he is talking about.
You close your eyes as you soothe him, rubbing your hands over his back.
"There was nothing you could've done..don't apologize Asra..I'm here now.." you soothe quietly.
And you would never lead his side..
