When we pulled up to the school the kids ran up to the jeep.
They had big grins on their faces, well Jade did,they kissed us on the cheek as they climbed into the back seats.
They both tried talking at the same time.
Amy laughed as she told them to take turns talking.
Jade went first,I'm glad you made us go to school.
I have friends now, and recess is fun too!
What did you learn today?
Multiplication and I got a list of spelling words.
That's good sweetie, now Junior how was your day?
It was good too, Did you make any friends?
No....
Why not hon?
Because I was too shy to talk to hardly anybody.
Did you have fun at least?
Short of...
I reached my hand behind the seat and grabbed Junior's hand.
Amy fill silent then turned on the radio.
I saw Junior's sad face in the rearview mirror,I gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.
Daddy do I have to go back?
I started to shake my head no, but I stopped myself.
I turned and looked back at him and gave him a wink.
I needed to talk this over with Amy.
I figured we would get into an argument over this.
When we got home Jade went to her room while Junior stayed around.
Junior pouted as tears fill from his eyes.
I knelt down and took the little guy in my arms.
He laughed as I picked him up and tickled his ribs.
Daddy stop!
I laughed as I sat him down, Amy hugged him and questioned him about the crocodile tears.
What's wrong buddy?
I got teased, I didn't even go out to recess because I was scared to get picked on even worse.
That's all because you wouldn't talk to anybody?
He nodded his head, they called me freak, weirdo and strange.
Oh honey, I'm so sorry.
Do I have to go back?
I shook my head no while Amy wasn't looking.
Good, because I hate it there.
Amy turned and caught me while I was (saying) no.
Junior honey go to your room me and your dad need to talk.
Amy said while glaring at me.
Junior gave me a sad look before heading to his room.
