disclaimer/trigger warning: details of assault.

The blonde's jaw sets hard when her eyes finally catch light of something sodden in the ground, the app on her phone finally pinging when locating it. She crouches down, brows furrowing and anger growing when realising the screen of Nova's phone is cracked. Her fingers curl into fists, trying to regain her composure and settle the bloodlust brimming within her.

The parking lot she pulled into had been empty, and the convenience store closed at midnight. Her brows furrow, wondering why the brunette was even out here at this hour. She only investigated when Nova hadn't been picking up her phone, nor was home.

The cracked screen sets a burning fire within her.

Her nose tilts into the air, grabbing a mingle of grotesque scents but finally grabbing the one she wanted, sweet and supple. It's pungent in this instant though, intense as if its leaking out.

"You smell that?" passing the phone over to the male who had assisted her, wearing a police uniform, his cap held in his hands.

They share eyes with a nod, a feeling of disdain falling between them.

Kelsey doesn't even hesitate, the blonde breaking into a sharp run into that direction, the male following closely behind her.

She skims to a stop before a smaller alleyway, at least about a few dozen metres away from the convenience store. Her heart falls when her eyes fall sharply onto the scene before her, body temporarily stilling when finding the blood all over the floor and the walls, spotting and streaking before eventually turning into a pool leading to a source.

Her eyes well, heart cracking, immediately coming too. The place reeks of all sorts of different scents.

"Nova," it's a sob, going over to the female, the one person who had her heart.

The dark-haired female is curled up at the very end, just before a dumpster that's overloaded with trash bags, some ripped open with rotting garbage.

Kelsey is tentative nearing her, ignoring the male behind her trying to figure out who the other scents belong to. Her footsteps are quiet, slow, using her phone torch to see where she's going.

"Nova?" it's murmured quietly, pulling her eyes away from the sea of blood that seems to be brimming from the female.

Her eyes are shut, her form naked. Her clothes had been shredded, torn in different places. She's curled into herself, face crusted with blood and bruises, the nape of her neck and her drenched in thick red. Some of it's swollen, and gnashed horribly.

Kelsey chokes down another cry, squatting down low and brushing her dampened hair out of her face.

"Nova?" using her thumb to curve the better side of her face, less inflamed but bruised none the less.

The female doesn't stir, but she's breathing faintly.

"Nova, please?" it's a quiet beg to the curve of her ear, kissing the top of her head.

It's a moment later, but her eyes stir, opening slowly, brows furrowed in confusion and body muted with a dull pain.

Nova's thoughts are muddle, as if someone had placed a blanket of black over her memory. She's hazy, almost delirious in thought. Her eyes hurt just by opening, it's too much just to stay conscious. The pull of sleep was strong, but the blonde before her had words that were encouraging, so she'd try.
