Ajwa's worry and fear were increasing as time was passing. The clock never seemed to be moving this fast before ever but today it felt like its needles had been given wings. Faris's number was still off and her every try to reach him was bringing her more distress. There was no information about him. It had already been past eight now but Faris was nowhere to be seen.

Ajwa was now tired of looking out in wait for him. So now they did their work; they teared up. So many bad thoughts began coming into her mind. Was Faris in any danger? Where was he? Why wasn't he picking up his phone? It rarely happened now that he didn't come home on time and even if he had any night shift, he never was that reckless to not inform her by calling. So what happened now?

Her nausea again became increased and her back started hurting by standing near the window for so long. Considering her current state, Ajwa finally decided to sit on the sofa in the lounge.

Khan Baba came from the quarter because he thought now they might have had dinner and he needed to wash the dishes. But he got shocked to find Ajwa alone there and the food was set there as he left it, completely untouched. Ajwa's cheeks had marks of tears on them and she looked pale.

"Bibi G, didn't Faris Saab come?" Khan Baba asked.

Ajwa came back to present on his voice and regarded him. She stood up from the sofa and shook her head.

"Should I warm the meal again?" He offered.

Ajwa sighed. "What's the use, Uncle? Faris isn't here."

"He will come Bibi G," he whispered.

"He has never gotten this late," Ajwa said, more to herself.

"Maybe he is busy. He mostly used to see patients in the night as well," Khan Baba reasoned.

"No Uncle. Faris now seldom does that night shift since I came here. Besides, his phone is off. He isn't picking up any of my calls," Ajwa felt on the verge of crying.

Perhaps it was the effect of pregnancy stress and emotions, her fear of being alone and then worry for Faris's safety. Khan Baba came forward and placed a hand above her head.

"Don't worry Bibi G. He will be fine," he said.

Ajwa lifted her face. "Uncle, please go to his clinic and look for him. I am not getting good vibes. He never kept his phone off."

"Okay Bibi G, I'll go. But you don't take stress," he reassured her and then went out.

Ajwa too followed up and then waited for him near the main gate. But it wasn't even five minutes passed since Khan Baba had gone, that the gate locked. Ajwa thought probably Faris had come. She inhaled a breath of relief and quickly opened it. But her brows gritted in confusion seeing the old man again. His face was worn out and afraid now, entirely different from a few minutes ago.

As the gate opened, Ajwa could hear noise from outside, and a lot of people crowded around throughout the whole street. What was it? Khan Baba promptly shut the door behind him.

"What's wrong? Why didn't you go to Faris's clinic?"  Ajwa questioned, as her pulse sped up.

Khan Baba gulped. "I couldn't. There was no space outside. There are so many people outside, completely blocking the way. Police are here. I don't know what happened. I tried to ask a few men what's the matter. They said that some crime had happened that's why police are here."

Ajwa's eyes widened in fear. "Police?"

Khan Baba nodded. "I think some robbery had taken place. Or some other kind of thing that the police is here. Maybe that's why Faris Saab isn't able to reach home. Rest assured, I will again try to go if he wouldn't come back on his own."
