That night Ajwa woke up with the sounds of heaving breathing and loud sounds of groaning from her nearby. She first thought she was having a nightmare. It was after such a long time she was having one. Faris's presence had practically stopped it but after feeling it again, she moved her hand to reach her husband as she did every time in her sleep when she got scared. But right now, she couldn't find him.

Ajwa heard another snort and then she jerked and opened her eyes. Faris was sitting on the bed, half inclined down with his head in between his both hands. It was he who was grunting in pain. Ajwa quickly came to her senses and went near to him. What happened to him? Faris was now clenching his hair harshly with his fingers.

Ajwa placed a hand over his arm. "Faris."

He didn't respond. His posture remained the same which scared Ajwa. He was perfectly alright and now suddenly, he was disturbed. She remembered she enjoyed Javaria's wedding ceremony with him so much. It was different than yesterday's function where he was acting weirdly. And now he was again back to that odd and distressing behavior. Did she do something with him?

"Faris, what's wrong?" She asked in a low voice which made him finally look at her.

Faris's eyes were bloodshot red and his expressions were tensed like something wasn't letting them relax. It was emotion. He seemed angry. Like she really did something as she was speculating. His breath was coming in labor. Ajwa panicked to find him like this.

Faris didn't reply to her. Instead, he jerked open the drawer of the bed's side table and brought a packet of painkillers from it. Messily filling a glass of water for him, which he made fall on the floor more, he ripped apart the packet and gulped one pill down his throat. That was so unlike Faris. Whatever was happening right now wasn't what the Faris with whom Ajwa had been living for four months would do. He was a very neat and gentle person. He was not like this.

Ajwa held his hand to again make him get attentive to her. She was feeling so much anxious for him that her eyes teared up.

"Faris," she whispered. "What is happening to you? Why your head is aching? Do you need to see a doctor? Should I...I get Uncle?"

Faris gazed at her as the inner turmoil in his body was finally going away. His headache was also slowly lessening and he could breathe properly now. He didn't remember the last time when he experienced those episodes. Perhaps a few years after his mother died. That time as well, his veins felt on the verge of bursting as happened today.

"I am going to Uncle." She referred to her father-in-law who seemed the only option for her in such a situation.

As Faris's senses came back, he regarded the girl sitting beside him, getting so worried for him. Ajwa tried to go out of bed but Faris held her wrist.
