Tekken
A Japanese word for "Iron Fist".
In the real world, TEKKEN is a fighting game franchise from Japan.
In the game au, Tekken Tournament (Iron Fist Tournament) is a fictional martial arts global tournament held by the in-game fictional company.

Wushu
While kungfu is a Chinese term for "martial arts" in general, wushu is a term specifically for "Chinese martial arts".

Dōjō
A Japanese term for a room/hall where you train martial arts.

Dojang
A Korean term for a room/hall where you train martial arts. Korean equivalent of the Japanese term "dōjō".

Sensei
A Japanese honorific term for martial arts instructor/master.

Shifu
A Mandarin/Chinese honorific term for martial arts instructor/master.

Sabeom
A general Korean honorific term for martial arts instructor/master.

Saseong
A Korean honorific term for a Taekwondo grandmaster. Used by the ITF Taekwondo.

Tag Battle
A match between 2 tag teams.

Tag team
A team consisting of 2 people working together to fight in a Tag Battle.

Ranked match
A fighting match in which students in NPS participate to get promoted to a higher rank, with each rank having different sets of rules and criteria.

Dan
In Tekken game (and this book too) players with Dan ranks are more advanced than Kyu, but still beginner. In real martial arts Dan is a master rank.

Kyū
Default / beginner rank for students in NPS. In Tekken game, Kyu is obtained after the "Beginner" rank. In real martial arts Kyu is a student rank.
