Unknown:

"Did you deliver the letter last ordered?"

"Yes your highness"

"Good. Let the fun begin."

Third person's point of view

Two months after the feast...
Edrin and Kira's paths only crossed at general places such as the dining room or the throne room. The Verhamian Princess kept a close watch on the two, as she was instructed by her uncle to be patient and wait till the iron is hot so as to strike.
Being the spoilt only daughter of a king, Beatrice was used to having all her wishes granted without delay, So, patience was not one of her virtues, had she any.
But something happened that was not in the plan;

Kira's point of view

I woke up with a throbbing headache,
'Not again'.  I murmured.

This strange fever I experience every morning and umph! The vomiting...
Sofia, my maidservant blurted out that I may be pregnant. Although I highly doubt such an assumption, I didn't rule it out completely.
The royal doctor is to examine me today... I hope they can find a cure as soon as possible to whatever this is.

Some hours after the doctor's examination, I received the best news of my life, I am pregnant!!!
A baby is growing inside my womb!
I didn't know when tears of joy filled my eyes.
How will I tell Edrin? We aren't even on talking terms, I will have to keep this to myself until the tension between us is reduced.

Jared is out of town like most times, he is a man of duty. And would give up his life for his people. Edrin would never do such a thing. I hope my son does not grow to become selfish like his father, I go to sleep with the happy thought of soon becoming a mother.

Around midnight, a loud knock that almost broke down my door made me jump from the bed wondering who it could be at that time of the night.
Before I could get decently dressed, the door was unlocked by a spare key I didn't know existed and five guards enter my chamber without respect or regard.

"What nonsense is this? How dare you men enter my chambers in such a manner?!

" We are here on the King's orders to escort you to the waiting room so you can await your trial which will be at the break of dawn, my lady."
One of the men said in a deep tone.

"Waiting room? Trial? Dawn? What are you talking about? What have I done wrong?"

"Forgive me but that is all I am permitted to say. Please come with us quietly or we will have to use force".

I knew it would be futile arguing with him, after covering myself up properly because of the cold of the night, I was led by them to a smaller room in the Eastern wing of the castle.

The room only had at its centre, a table and a chair on which I was made to sit.
The guards left the room to keep watch from the outside.

I keep on wondering what I have done wrong. I am pregnant for Heaven's sake!
I cannot believe they are making me stay here till dawn.
Unable to sleep, I stare at the ceiling for hours, wondering what the dawn had in store for me.

They say Joy cometh in the morning, but my morning started with a group of guards almost dragging me to the throne room for the so-called trial, for a crime I am sure I know nothing about.
I am not of noble blood, they can treat me however they see fit. Let us get this over with, shall we?

On entering the throne room, I saw the King, the Queen, Edrin and the Verhamian Princess with a strange look of satisfaction on her face. I have a feeling that this is of her doing.
Franklin, the chief minister and the other ministers, the advisors, the noblemen and women with their respective servants beside each of them, the jury apparently and some people I could not identify as my eyes were tired.
