Kira and Jared [Historical Romance]

✍Jared's hearing

"No no no!! I can't just leave, What about my mother. I won't leave her!".
I hastily rose from the bed and stood facing the window.

"K-K-Kira".
He stuttered, I had never heard him stutter, I turned to face him.

"What is it?". I asked frustratedly.

He had a sad look which got me worried.
"Kira, she is not in this world anymore ".

" What? "
still unsure of what I heard.

"When you were unconscious, I went to Konland in a disguise. But when I reached the ruins of your old house. I was told by someone there that she took her own life after losing you and your father".

It felt like my whole world came crashing down on me.

" No!!!!!".
I fell to the ground on my knees, crying my eyes out. Jared tried to comfort me, but I pushed him away.

"This is all your fault! It's because of you! I wish I had never met you! I wish you never deceived me into falling for your stupid charms. I will never forgive you, Jared, never! And as for that family of yours that you so want to protect, how will you protect them from me?! I will ruin all of them!!".
I wailed uncontrollably.

I was hoping to move on with my mother, but why did this have to happen? No.

I looked up and saw him kneeling before me, eyes red with hidden tears.

" Kira I never deceived you, I really did love you and I still do. I never knew it would turn out this way. Please, Kira, forgive me.
Please, Kira, I love you. Please just forgive me".

"Jared, I was ready to forgive you, but not on this. No. Please leave me alone".

On realizing that his pleas fell on deaf ears, He rose and walked away.

I tried severally to leave this place. But he refused to let me go, now he locked me up in another room to ensure I don't leave.
I stayed in there for five days without seeing Jared, wondering where he went.

In the middle of the night, I was awakened by the sound of keys clattering against the keyhole, someone was in such a hurry and their hands were shaking.
The doorknob was turned and the door opened to reveal the innkeeper.
He quickly walked to my bed.

" You have to go now ", He said.

"What happened?" I asked

"Jared has been captured, he will be executed tomorrow morning, you have to leave before the soldiers come to search this place. They were informed that he had been hiding here and they might want to search the place or maybe kill me, I don't know. But the most important thing is, Jared wants you safe. Take these and head north, a man is waiting for you outside. Jared already made plans for your safety. Please go now".

He handed me a large blanket with which I covered myself, and a bag containing Jared's belongings.

I followed his instructions, the man I met behind the inn led me north, to a small cottage in the woods.

When he reached the cottage, he stood at the door and opened it for me to enter. As soon as I entered, he closed the door behind me. I guess he is the bodyguard.

I sat down on the chair inside the warm, cozy cottage wondering what Jared's fate would be.
I indeed blamed him for what happened in my life, but it wasn't his intention. He is as much a victim as I am.
I felt guilty for talking to him the way I did.

I did not know when I fell asleep.
