- Parenting is the biggest sacrifice one can make, it's putting your life on hold to fulfill the promise of your children's tomorrow's.- Frederica Ehimen

(Esme’s POV)

Charlie and Sue had said yes… As soon as Carlisle, Bella and I had explained they didn’t hesitate to agree. As the very reality of it all settled in, I was shivering so much that I fell into the next chair and cried. Bella and Carlisle were still on the phone with Charlie and Sue and discussed all details, but it was too much… It was hurting her too much… I know it had been my decision, but now it was becoming reality. Only a few days more before we would bring them to Charlie and Sue and would most probably never see them again… Carlisle watched me worriedly from the corner as I cried hysterically. I couldn’t bear it! I jumped up and rushed up the stairs into Carlie’s nursery.

Carlie was soundly sleeping in her bed; no worries were plaguing her… she had no idea what we had decided… She wouldn’t understand even if we would tell her now. How should she know what “never” means? She would never see us again. We would never see our children again… Not as long as the Volturi were alive. I sat down on the ground next to the bed and stroked Carlie’s hand as I laid my head against the wooden bars of her bed. I closed my eyes and let my mind wander…

- We got back to the hotel room and I locked myself into the bathroom. I made the test and waited 5 minutes for the result. It nearly killed me to wait. Then the unspeakable sentence showed up: Pregnant, 4th week. I squealed and jumped up and down in joy. “Esme, please tell me. It’s killing me to not know what is wrong with you,” he admitted. I opened the door of the bathroom. There in front stood Carlisle with so much worry and pain on his face. I hugged him dearly and took his hand to lead him back into the room. I laughed and got back into the bathroom to get the stick. I placed it in his hands and let him realize it on his own. He only stood there for a moment totally focused on the item. I was a bit worried that he wouldn’t like the news, but the next moment Carlisle looked up at me and smiled brilliantly. I smiled back at him and he spun me around in a circle before he kissed me passionately. “You’re with child.” He said joyfully and totally mesmerized; even falling back to his English accent and terms. “Yes, I am. I’m pregnant; you’re going to be a daddy.” He took me up into his arms and kissed me softly. -

- All of a sudden I could feel the kicking on my hand. It took me by surprise, yet I took that chance to let Carlisle be part of this and took his hand and laid it under mine. He looked at me questioningly until he could feel the kicking. “Was that the baby?” he asked incredulously. “Yes,” I smiled and kissed him. “Did you feel it, too?” I nodded. “This was the first time I could feel it through the skin, I could only feel it inside,” I told him. He leaned down and kissed my stomach. “I love you, baby!” he whispered to my baby bulge. -

- An hour later our daughter was born. The birth was exhausting, but everything else vanished as soon as Edward showed me my baby. She cried in his arms and Carlisle got to his side to check her up. Two minutes later Carlisle cradled our daughter in his arms. She was wrapped in a pink blanket and wore a hat. He walked to my side and showed me her face with the most loving smile. I yearned to have her in my arms and as if on cue Carlisle handed me our daughter. He kissed me and sat at my side to watch our baby. I softly cradled her and watched her. She didn’t cry and it seemed as if she observed everything around her. I cooed and kissed her forehead softly. Carlisle stroked her cheek with his finger and stroked her little hands. She grabbed his finger and he smiled at her with such love. Our daughter couldn’t have a better father, I thought as I saw them together. -
