THIRTY THREE

Although she was avoiding Rachel, Izzy made it to their three-day Invitationals and saw Vocal Adrenaline's show-stopping performance. Sue announced that the New Directions needed twelve members, and Kurt had a plan.

"You need to recruit Kitty again," Kurt said urgently. "Love the new necklace, by the way."

Izzy and Sam wanted to announce their engagement after Invitationals, hence the wearing her ring around her neck.

"Thanks, but she said no. She hates Rachel, and I don't really blame her," Izzy scoffed.

Kurt looked at her sympathetically. "I'm sorry about her. But you and Sam are doing pretty well, I guess her plan backfired."

"And I guess you'll be seeing less of me around when she is. I know you don't want another Rachel and Santana fight, but it wouldn't hurt to preserve her. In a jar. In my basement," Izzy crossed her arms, ready to walk away when she saw Rachel's face.

Sam walked towards them, wrapping an arm over her shoulder.

"You make me sick," Kurt said in disgust.

"You make me sicker. How old was that guy you went out with again?" Izzy teased Kurt giving her a glare in response.

"What are you guys talking about?" Sam asked.

"I'm trying to convince your girlfriend to recruit Kitty back to the glee club," Kurt crossed his arms.

Both Sam and Izzy looked at each other, smiling knowingly as Kurt seemed confused. "Well, my girlfriend has been spending a lot of time with her, and I'm sure she wouldn't mind."

Izzy scoffed, shaking her head. "No way. Kitty would electrocute me if I tried recruiting her again."

"You're our best bet. Unlike everyone else at this school, Kitty actually respects you," Kurt tried to convince her.

"Sorry," she held a guilty expression on her face. "Maybe Rachel might convince her," she said with a hint of sarcasm.

"Maybe you're on to something," Kurt pondered, with the couple giving him a strange look. "I'm serious, Rachel's very annoying."

"We know," Sam said as if it was obvious. Well, it was.

"That's the point. She's so annoying that Kitty might actually join!" Kurt exclaimed. "I love you, you're a genius!" he said as he ran off to find Rachel.

"I so am."

Rachel had somehow convinced Kitty to join the glee club, even though they were still seven members short and were without a setlist. More importantly, Kurt and Blaine were missing, leaving Rachel to coach them on their own. She was in desperate need of help, but she had made more enemies than she had friends. Izzy was completely freaked out as her emotional support was missing and also because the New Directions were in big trouble.

"I can't believe Rachel got you to join. And that Kurt and Blaine are missing. I'm terrified," Izzy ranted to Kitty.

"I thought you liked Rachel. Didn't you crash at her place for a solid year?" Kitty questioned.

"I forgot how much of a pain she was. She tried to kiss Sam," Izzy told her.

Eyes wide, Kitty was stunned at her actions. "He didn't cheat on you, did he? If he did I would kick his ass."

"What? No. He did this instead," she showed her the ring hanging from her chain. "We're keeping it a secret until after Invitationals."

Kitty gasped loudly. "The world isn't ending again, is it?"
