I Place the final pin into my hair to hold my bun in place and pull out a few small pieces in the front to frame my face, I check over my reflection. Instead of wearing my uniform I went with a white bell sleeved blouse, a black skater skirt with a dark green trim on the hem and sheer black tights. I added my tie and snake pin before pulling my robe over my shoulders. I would wear my normal uniform every now and then but for the first few days I intended to keep wearing outfits similar to this. As long as I wore a white shirt and skirt along with my house colour and the overall outfit was not only smart but also sensible then I wasn't technically breaking any rules. I also had a feeling that some of the others would join in which would thoroughly annoy Dumbledork, something that brought me great pleasure.

~Come on my hatchling~ I walk over to Astara, I had added a warming stone to my room this year so she could curl up on it during the day when she decided to come her. She was able to entre the common room through a secret passage that lead up to my room and could only be opened in the presence of Parselmagic. Astara only had Parselmagic because she was my familiar, Accius had some as well if he ever wanted to sleep in my room instead of the owlery but he had a smaller amount since he wasn't a snake or reptile of any kind.

~No~ Astara turns away from my with a grumpy tone. Usually I wouldn't push her to come with but I didn't want to have to deal with Lockhart without her. An idea strikes me and I say the only thing that will persuade her otherwise. ~I'll let you bite Lockhart~ I watch amused as she practically spin around to face me, a mischievous snake smirk on show. ~Well what are we waiting for. Let's go~

I shake my head at her but place a small kiss on the top of her head before picking her up and resting her over my shoulder. She hisses happily and wiggles around a little making me smile. I absentmindedly stroke her scales while I pick up my bag and go down to the common room.

Draco and Blaise weren't there yet so I sit down on one of the plush sofas next to the first year that had spoken to me yesterday. I watch as she tries to braid her crimson hair but continues to mess up and undo it before starting over. "Need some help little snake?"

The small girl jumps at my voice and spins around to face me, he pale sliver eyes wide in surprise before she blushes a delicate pink. She tilts her head down in embarrassment. "Yes please. Grandmother says I need to wear my hair up but I was never taught how to do it."

"It's okay not to know. I stick to that tradition as well, turn around." I motion her to move closer before twirling my finger to let her know to turn. She does as I ask and I summon a hair brush before brushing out her waist length hair until it shone. I part her hair into two and Dutch braid each side, crossing them over at the base of her head. I add a few white daisy clips randomly into the braid and smile at the final look.

"There. Perfect" The small girl blushes before hugging me, I could already tell that my motherly instinct would show up around this girl so I was more then happy to take her under my wing. "How about you come to my room in the mornings and I'll do your hair for you?"

"Okay." She gives me a bright smile and finally lets me out of my hug. I wasn't exactly tall but at 5"5 I was definitely tall for my age but she was tiny compared to me and just about almost come up to my shoulders. I smile back and stand up when the boys arrive. "Why don't you join us for breakfast?"

"Yes please. I'm Serenity Macmillan, but you can call me Siren." the small girl excitedly takes my had and pulls me towards the door while the boys smile and shake their heads amused before following after. Siren talks the whole way to the hall after the boys introduce themselves. Siren turned out to me a Parselmouth as well since she was a snake animangas so she happily pulled Astara into a conversation. I could feel my familiars fondness for the bubbly red head, this only reassured me that she would be even further protected.

We all take our seats and I smile once more when Draco starts filling my plate up after Dad gives us all a nod. He had been complaining that I wasn't eating enough and that it was my turn to have someone look after me since I had done this to him a few time last year. The fact that he cared enough to wait for me to eat first before eating himself warmed my heart. The rest of our little group joined us and Neville was currently talking to Siren about Herbology while the twin tried to steal her attention by making funny faces. Fred and George had picked up that she was getting uncomfortable around to many older students there were around her and were trying to make the 'ickle firstie' more relaxed. I debated on whether or not Siren was fully human since every time she laughed a large majority of the students would look at her with a level of adoration that made it seem as if she was some kind of angel. If she wasn't fully human then their was a high chance that she was either part Elf or had some Veela blood in her. It wouldn't be enough to make her hair white but she did have the other features such as the extremely pale skin and light eyes. Not to mention how beautiful she clearly was.

I would have to look into it at a later time for know though I was going to help guide the first years to their lessons. Until they got used to the castle they would have a small orb of white light that would guide them to the correct places. I was hoping that this could also act as a form of bonding with other houses since the other first years could ask about them and act as a conversation starter. I had set a goal to have unity amongst the houses before I graduated, I wasn't naïve enough to believe it would happen over night so I wanted to start with the first years since they would be easier to persuade than the older students.
