Chaeyoung

"Chaeyoung, I decided to take a two-week vacation. I won't be bringing my cellphone with me, so don't call me."

That's what the CEO told me right after she made me buy lunch for two people.

"Huh? What if there's an emergency?" Dahyun questioned me.

I put a slice of cucumber into my mouth before answering her. "She told me she will ask someone to manage the company temporarily."

"Who?" Jennie asked.

"I don't know."

"It would've been her child only if she had one." Dahyun looked intrigued as she leaned over the table while looking back and forth at Jennie and me. "I wonder why she's still single."

Her gaze landed on me. "Unnie, you're kind of close with her, right? Doesn't she really have any plans to marry? Will she really stay single forever?"

"I guess so." I replied uncertainly.

A few minutes later, words came out of her mouth again.

"Ugh, I wish I could spend a week at an island without any technology. You know, just nature." Dahyun pouted. "Technology makes our life easier but I'm honestly kind of getting tired of using it. I feel the need to take a break."

"Yah, how could you get tired of it?" We all turned our heads and watched Momo occupy the seat beside Dahyun. Jennie chuckled, shaking her head.

"Here comes the girl who's always on her phone but doesn't even have someone to talk to." She mocked, causing Momo to make a face. Hirai Momo—a Japanese who has never been into a relationship. But recently, she's claiming that she's in a relationship with her phone.

"Phones are not always used for boyfriends, Jennie. And please, I know I'm single. Don't shove it in my face." She responded grumpily.

Dahyun sniggered. "I thought you're in a relationship with your phone?"

"He's acting up and we broke up." She spoke as if she's really talking about an actual person. "Dahyun, come with me to the mall after work. I'll search for a new one."

"Ooh.. You've got a lot of money now?" Dahyun smirked teasingly.

Momo turned to her and gave her a blank look. "I said search, not buy."

Jennie burst into laughter. "Once you get a new one, please, refrain yourself from using it too much."

"You sound like my mother." Momo frowned. I let out a laugh before deciding to interrupt.

"Gadgets are just bad for us when we overuse it."

"Okay, Teacher." Momo replied in a mocking tone.

"Why are we even talking about technology?" Dahyun asked, her forehead creased. Jennie stopped eating and looked at her with one eyebrow raised.

"You started it."

Dahyun chuckled a bit, scratching her neck. "I did?"
