Prologue
The fire didn't reach me.
I've never known whether I should be grateful the flames didn't burn my skin or beg for a time machine, and jump straight into them. Sometimes the thought of shaking my hand with Death seems more peaceful.
I've been questioning everything I've done ever since that night. Wondering if I'm living the right way, knowing I'm making mistakes every single day. And I know there will come a time when I would have to pay for all of it. Whether it's in blood or money– the price will be unpayable.
But, one day, none of it will feel so heavy. The weight of my choices won't haunt me in my sleep. All the things I've said and everything I keep hidden from the world– none of it will matter anymore.
Things will change.

•As you can see, the first difference after editing is the prologue. The story does get a bit darker later on, but the prologue just wasn't it. I didn't like how I wrote it so here's something a bit different. Let me know what you think!
