The loud clops of horseshores roared through the Titan infested land. A beautiful clear and sunny day shining down on the underground group Isabel and Furlan were enjoying the sun, the feeling of its warmth still not use to the feeling.

Y/n was in deep thought, it was getting uncomfortably close to when the warriors would be coming to the walls to start their mission and he had nothing to show for his efforts other than a location. It pissed him off, all this time he had wasted messing around with some friends when he should've been focusing on his real goal.

"All squads! Deploy the long distance scouting formation!" Erwin Smith, section commander and most likely to be the next commander of the scouts, yelled out. Levi, Furlan, Isabel and Y/n were one squad behind Erwin. If they could break away and get to Erwin without anybody noticing they could end this ridiculous contract.

Levi marvelled at the brilliance of the long distance scouting formation, multiple red flares going off every couple of minutes or so.

"It's a brilliant idea.." he complimented "for so many units to act as one living creature" Furlan road up next to him "hmm squad leader Erwin really is something"

The thought of Zeke entered Y/n's minds and he let out a low laugh "I've seen better, so far he's shown nothing unique"

"Yeah but that doesn't change how impressive it is, of we carry on like this the rear guard might make it the whole way without seeing a single Titan"

Isabel nodded and looked down "we've changed direction fourteen times so far so there we're fourteen titans? More than I thought there would be.." she looked kind of worried.

"Don't dwell on it too much, titans usually move in groups and so far non of them have even gotten close to us. We haven't lost a single squad today and we're so far into the formation we have no reason to worry about them if anyone should be worried it should be the people on the edges" Y/n played the role of a big brother, like he usually did.

But just as he finished his sentence a large cloud began forming, rumbles and cracks of lightening booming through the sky as the formation looked on in shock.

Back with Erwin's squad Sharis came up and road at his pace "have you noticed Erwin?"

"Yes...those clouds don't look so good" he worried "be careful all of you! Something terrible is coming!" He warned as they carried on riding into the cloudy abyss.

Rain quickly began falling as the scouts did their best to carry on their mission "damn! It's a down pour! Shit! I can't see ahead of me!" Their squad leader shouted as a bleak  mist blinded them

"Hey! Don't break ranks! Everyone stick together!" Flagon tried to control his squad
"I can't hear a thing!" Isabel yelled as she shielded her eyes

"Damn it" Y/n growled as is hood wildly swayed "we'll be slaughtered if Erwin carries on like this"

"Don't get seperated! Stay focused and don't let any titans Go unnoticed!" Levi yelled but they could barely hear him

With Erwin's squad Sharis looked at Erwin, he could never tell what was going through that man's head "we'll lose contact with the other squads like this! Let's close formation at once!" He pleaded and looked at the clouds, a bot of lightening striking near them "what the hell is this...for the weather to turn this bad on our first test run.."

Erwin watch as a smoke signal flew into the air "the smoke.." he muttered "they're just smoke..the signals won't work"

"Fog..."

"Commander. Unfortunately we can no longer scout ahead, we should expect to encounter a Titan at any moment" Erwin informed shadis about just how bad their situation really is
