Percy was anxious. He'd been trying to count how many days it had been since he'd seen his mom.

He couldn't get an exact number. He saw her after the Titan War, then he went back to camp, then Hera took him, and then all the quests... It had been just over a year. Too long.

He and Annabeth held hands as a cab drove them to Percy's mom's apartment.

"This is going to be fantastic," Annabeth said. "Imagine how much blue food she has prepared!"

The cabbie gave them a curious look but didn't say anything.

Percy laughed. "Yeah, I can't wait to see her."

When they arrived at the apartment, the doorman announced Percy's arrival via the intercom. Percy was only halfway up the stairs before he saw his mom flying at him from the top of the stairwell, her hair whizzing behind her.

She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him and sobbed and smiled all at the same time. Annabeth teared up a little, too. She knew how important this was to them. She wondered how her own dad would react when she saw him again...

"I missed you so much! So worried! Paul and I..."

Suddenly Paul appeared at the top of the stairs, panting and out of breath.

"Percy!" he yelled. Percy pulled away from his mom and went to embrace Paul. Sally gave Annabeth a hug and whispered, "Thank you for finding him."

Later, the four of them sat around the kitchen table and munching on blue cookies while Annabeth and Percy recounted their adventure. Annabeth spoke of how she'd found Percy at Camp Jupiter, and Percy told them how he and Hazel and Frank had freed Thanatos.

They took turns telling the story of how the seven demigods had assembled on the Argo II, how Annabeth had followed the Mark of Athena and freed the Athena Parthenos, and how they'd fallen into Tartarus.

Sally started crying all over again when she heard that. "Tartarus!" she cried. "And this is Hera's fault, you say? I'll kill her!"

Annabeth smiled. "Don't worry, Mrs. Jackson. It's really Gaea's fault. We won't have to worry about her anymore." And then she told them about their escape from Tartarus, how they'd met Nike, obtained the Physician's Cure from Asclepius, and how they'd fought with the gods against the Giants.

Finally Percy told them about the battle of Camp Halfblood and how they'd defeated Gaea but lost their friend Leo in the process.

"Oh, gods, Percy. I'm so sorry. You're sure he's gone?" Sally asked.

"We're sure."

"Well... anyway. You two have been through quite a lot. You're welcome to stay the night if you want."

"That's okay, Mom. We'll be back here before we go to camp and officially end the year, but Annabeth still needs to see her dad."
