I pulled up to the batting cages and walked up to the guy to pay.

"How may I help-" he stopped and I looked up at him

"Jackie" he asked

I smiled "Craig"

Craig was one of my dad's old friend but he moved 2 years ago

"How you been kid" he said coming around the counter to hug me

"Good I guess"

"So what brings you to Florida" he asked

"I got a scholarship for softball at Eastwood, so we packed up and moved down here"

"Well good luck, you gonna go show off a bit" he said smirking

"Showing off, phf, please I call it showing people up"

"Good luck kid, I know you're a better hitter than these boys that come here"

"Thanks, what's the highest speed you got here" I asked

"Try cage 4, it's 95 mph, no one can hit them"

"Thanks Craig, it was nice seeing you again"

"You to kid, just promise me you'll come back at least once a week"

"Promise"

I grabbed my helmet, bat and batting gloves and headed over to the cage.

I stepped in and some guys looked at me and snickered

"What are you doing, you're a girl, you can't hit crap" one guy said

I walked over to him

"Ok, I bet you $30 I can hit most of them" I said putting my gloves on

"You got a deal girl, just be ready to pay up" he said smirking

I rolled my eyes and put my helmet on, there was crowd of people around the cage watching me like I was crazy. Craig even came over to watch and was smiling like crazy because he knew I was good at hitting.

I got into position and the first ball came, I swing and felt the bat ring like I knew it would. Some people gasped that I hit it.

I hit 5 in a row, then 10, 15, 20, and then the last ball came and I hit it straight down the cage.

I took my helmet off and turned on my heals to face that boy

"So I believe you owe me $30" I said smirking

His jaw was dropped and he handed over the money

"How'd you do that" he asked

"Let's just say I hold a record bud"

I walked out of the cage and Craig came up to me

"Good job kid" he said patting my back

He went back to the front, I was walking when someone said my name.

"Hey Jackie" it was Tucker

"Oh hey" I said with a small smile

"I saw you hit, you're pretty dang good if you ask me"

I flipped my hair and laughed

"Yeah I got 30 bucks out of it" I laughed so did he
