-CHAPTER THIRTY ONE-

Ophelia snuggled more into Tony’s chest and sighed heavily. This was bliss for her.

Her head resting on his chest, slowly falling asleep to the rhythmic beat of his heart as he played with her hair, occasionally massaging the roots to ease the tension he had sensed in her when she climbed into the bedroom.

Tony had sensed the tension the moment she'd stepped in his apartment, and to his surprise, she didn’t smile, or greet him with the hard kiss she usually did. Instead, she threw her school bag aside and quietly laid into Tony’s arms, who had been reading a book on his bed.

“You okay,” he had asked, his voice laced with concern. “Mm. I just had a bad day, that’s all,” her muffled voice had said back.

Tony knew better than to ask her again. He knew if she wanted to, she would’ve already told him, so he decided to keep quiet, and provide her with as much comfort he could. He gave her forehead kisses, something Ophelia loved and lightly massaged her stiff back.

Tony had tried many other things to make his girlfriend feel comfortable, but what he had failed to understand was that all Ophelia wanted was to be in his arms.

So as she snuggled into him some more, she melted into him, their bodies fitting like two puzzle pieces.

They laid there for only minutes when Tony realised that she had fallen asleep. He knew she was extremely tired, and going home now wasn’t an option since she wasn’t going to wake up anytime soon, so he pulled her phone out and asked Diana to cover for her, who was more than happy to agree to it.

Tony gave her about thousand other forehead kisses, not caring if she was asleep. He stared at the figure asleep against him, and couldn’t help but smile. Never, in his entire life had he thought of love, and never had he thought he’d be fortunate enough to experience it.

But when he felt his heart beat at the warmth Ophelia provided, both physical and emotional, he couldn’t help but fall in love with her. He fell in love, hard and fast, and he didn’t care if it was too early. He didn’t care if this would end when the truth would be out. If the truth would ever be out.

He just didn’t care.

He loved Ophelia.

And he knew then, there was no other force as powerful as love.
