Review note:
The prologue was truly intriguing, how the surroundings were explained the way machines were described. It was interesting.
However, if I am being honest the initial chapters did not live up to the expectations led by the prologue- it felt more like a slice of life and a teenage high school story than a sci-fi.
By no means I meant it was a bad chapter, it was a well written chapter but it failed the hype that was set up.
The way this story is presented or written is chef's kiss and even though I am not a big fan of long chapters; it didn't feel like I was stuck on the same chapter for long.
But the chapters are long and when I say long it's long, there are so many things going on in the same chapter but the author has done well with connecting those and make it flow smoothly.
Nerdy characters are usually treated as background fillers with no remarkable presence but it wasn't like that in this book, which was refreshing to read. Each character had their individuality closer to which we could see more in reality rather than fiction and I think that's a good point because I could relate to the story from that view. The dynamics between them is fun and their inferactions are really interesting.
The story development and pacing are well done but it could get confusing at some points just have to be a bit more attentive while reading it.
Even though sci-fi is not a rare genre and is favoured by a large group of people; readers and authors. The style of handling the plot was unique, the mystery and science were handled well balanced. I could feel being on my toes with anticipation and excitement from time to time. It also has some glint of a slice of life, adding more flavours to it.
The book is diverse, it includes specks of everything, organised into a whole, it's like a big factory. Holy cowsies, that left me in awe, it just shows how much research the writer has done for this book and that's commendable. The last chapters were so thrilling.
Most of all I liked how the machines were described in the book, their looks to where they were connected and the minor details (let's just say I got hooked from the prologue). I have learned a lot from this book so far.
This is one of those books where you read for fun but in the process, you also gain some knowledge.Thank you~
