Happy Birthday!

A/N: It's actually my birthday as I'm writing this, so I thought me and Cora could share.

Cora pov:

I bask in the warm glow of the rising sun. I turn over in my sheets to face it, the rays hitting my eyelids.

I think I woke up before my alarm for once. I allow my mind to wake up slowly today. I feel so refreshed. Stretching, I half-turn over. I wonder what time it- OH SHIT!

I spring out bed in a way that makes my back sore. Scrambling towards my closet I start yanking off my pj's as quickly as I can, almost tripping on my fluffy pants. I quickly tug on the stupid skirt and I do up the buttons of my shirt while I rush to the bathroom.

I drag my brush through my hair and do a speed clean of my teeth. I tie my tie with the only knot I know, which isn't meant for ties. I put on one shoe and hop as I pull on the other. I grab my blazer and my backpack before bolting out of my room faster than a speedster. I did remember to shut my door though.

My blazer and my backpack are both on as I get roughly halfway down the stairs. I need to find Alfred, or Bruce, or somebody with a drivers license! They might still be having breakfast.

I speed down the hallway and to the left, practically slamming open the dining room door. I whip my head around. It's completely vacant.

Okay, if they're done breakfast then maybe one of them is in the office? I hear my bag shifting and jostling as I sprint up the stairs in record time. I knock loudly on the door, a little too panicked to worry about being polite.

When I don't hear a response I take a risk and open the oak door. Empty. Again. Letting out a frustrated groan I run towards Tim's room, possibly forgetting to close the office door.

I speed past my own room, not at all noticing the door has been opened. I reach Tim's room, feeling a little winded. How big is this place anyway?

I rapidly knock on Tim's door, panting. I hear nothing and so I knock again. Still nothing.

"Aaagh!! Where is everyone?!" I yell, beyond panicking.

Think, Cora! Think! Where would they go if they were still home? The gym? Worth a shot.

I run down a different set of stairs and I jog to the gym. My energy is fading fast and I still don't have a ride to school. I throw open the gym doors.

Whipping my head around with wild abandon, I find absolutely no one. I haven't even seen Titus, although he's usually outside. I sink myself onto one of the benches. I pull out my phone, suddenly thankful I brought it.

Who should I call? If Bruce isn't home then maybe he and Tim are in a company meeting. So they're out. Richy is in Blüdhaven. So, Jason? But I've never called to ask him for a favour before. What if he's busy?

Screw it. If he's busy, then he's busy and I'll text Bruce saying I overslept. Taking a very deep breath and pulling up Jasey's contact. I hit call. He picks up after the first ring.

"Cora?" He asks. He doesn't sound busy.

"Uh, yeah it's me. Um, can I ask you for a favour?" I ask cautiously.

"Sure kid, go for it." He allows. I almost breathe a sigh of relief.

"I overslept. Can you drive me to school? No one else is home." I explain quickly. I hear a breathy laugh.

"Cora, what part of the manor are you in?" He asks, I can hear the grin in his voice. I raise an eyebrow, even though he can't see me.

"The gym, why?" I question. He snickers.
