Miriana mewled in delight, clenching her pillow as her dreams splurged with thoughts of her dragon.

Princess Miriana sat down in the sunflower field, her fingers aimlessly running through the bright yellow petals that bent to the will of the winds. She let out a delighted sigh. Herer mind couldn’t help but be brought back to her dragon.

“Princess,” her lady in waiting, Raelyn, said to get her attention, “he’s waiting for you.”

Miriana’s eyes went wide. “Really? He’s back?!”

“Yes, Princess.” Raelyn nodded, helping her up. “He’s waiting for you in the observatory.”

She picked up the sides of her dress, her heels skimming the grass and soon the tiles as she made her way into the observatory to lay her eyes on Sir Charles.

“Sir Charles!” she cheered, rushing into his arms. “Oh Sir Charles, I missed you!”

“I can see that.” He chuckled, stroking her blonde hair. “Gods… the sights in Japan were amazing but none of them hold a candle to your smiling face, Princess.”

“Don't keep me waiting any longer, Sir Charles.” Miriana wrapped her arms around his neck. “The court has had you on back to back missions. We haven’t had a single moment to mate.” She pecked his lips with a kiss. “Let’s mate now, before they send you out again.”

“Patience, my little princess. Why don't we find a more comfortable place to mate?” he suggested as he lifted her up in bridal style.

“Oh, Sir Charles! How bold!” She let out a fake gasp, resting her hand on her forehead, throwing her head back in a dramatic effect.

Sir Charles laughed, carrying her up to her room. “Oh princess, you have no idea how bold I am.”

Her eyes shot open. She awoke with the hope that she’d feel the warmth of her dragon, but there was nothing but an empty space in bed beside her. She whimpered. Her heart break deepened as another day of separation from her Charles began.

She buried her face into her pillow, feeling around for her phone. She turned it on to see a picture of her and Charles as the lock screen picture. She mumbled incoherently as she unlocked her phone to call her sister.

“Queenie,” she grumbled through the phone, “can I talk to Charles?”

“Sure honey, he just woke up,” Queenie said. The sound of heels clicking on the floor echoed through the call. Then came the creak of the door. “Charles, it’s for you.”

“Miri?”

'She sighed in delight. “Morning, darling.”

“Morning, how’d you sleep?”

“Terrible…” She frowned, tracing circles on her pillow with her pointer fingers. “I couldn’t get any sleep…”
