CHAPTER FOURTEEN:
PINKY PROMISE

WILLOW SAT THERE, A CUP of coffee in her hands as she sat there on one of the many couches, her legs tucked underneath her as she stared blankly ahead, so deep in thought she barely realized she had been fiddling with the choker that lay securely on her neck. It was something that had quickly become a part of her, and she wished so desperately to be able to take it off without facing the consequences, but she knew that that was never going to happen. Not now, not while she knew her best friend was struggling with her own demons that she didn't want to share with anyone.

She took a sip of her drink, the warm liquid running down her throat even though her nose scrunched up in disgust. Coffee was never her thing, and she wasn't really sure what made her decide to want to drink it. Usually she was questioning her girlfriend on how she drunk it first thing when she woke up in the morning. The sound of approaching footsteps pulled the woman from her thoughts, causing her to look up only to find Skye carefully making her way over towards her. She saw the hesitant look covering the dark haired woman's face.

     "Skye." Willow hummed.

"Hey." Skye let out a breath of relief when Willow offered her a small smile. She walked over to Willow who was quick to motion for Skye to take a seat beside of her. Skye sat down beside of Willow, looking at her for a moment before a sigh fell from her lips. She opened her mouth but Willow was quick to beat her to it.

"I'm sorry." Willow met Skye's eyes. "What I did. . . it wasn't right. And I'm sorry. I shouldn't have went behind your back like that, I just―︎"

"You were looking out for me, I get that now." Skye rubbed her hands down her face as she shook her head. "I've already talked with Sam, I forgave him, so it wouldn't make any sense for me to forgive him and not forgive you. All I ask, is that you don't do it again, okay? You're one of the only close friends that I have here, and I can't lose you because of something as stupid as this."

"It won't happen again." Willow assured her, before holding out her pinky. "Pinky promise."

Skye rose an eyebrow. "What are we, four?"

"The pinky promise is the unbreakable promise." Willow sternly said. "It means that the person truly means business, and I mean business. So, give me your pinky and lock it with mine, or else this deal will run sour, and I really would like to avoid that from happening."

Skye chuckled in amusement, shaking her head before holding up her pinky. "You're such a child." And then they locked them together, before pulling their hands apart, and Skye couldn't help but smile in amusement at the fact that Willow felt proud that she had convinced Skye to do it with her.

"No one ever does pinky promises with me anymore, okay? Not even Nat. So, let me take pride in the fact that you did it."

"Well, I'm your best friend." Skye shrugged her shoulders, a wide smile forming on her face. "You do childish shit, I gotta do it with you. It's in our contract, y'know."

"Hm, that is true." Willow nodded. "Might wanna pull that contract out and add a few things on there."

"Well, let me find it, and we shall do so." The two chuckled in amusement before a sigh fell from her lips. "Now that that stress is off my shoulders, I might go and try to lay down. I wasn't able to sleep very well last night."

"Don't let me keep you." Willow nodded. Skye nodded in response before standing up from the couch and leaving Willow to sit there by herself.

She walked down one of the many hallways, her eyes catching glimpse of Natasha and Clint training with one another, causing for her to roll her eyes in amusement. She wondered why Clint was here and not at home with his family, and then she remembered that he had a teenage daughter that lived at the facility and was probably trying to patch things up with her, seeing as the duo had a rocky relationship ever since Avery had gained her powers.

"Speak of the devil and she shall appear." Skye joked under her breath, watching as Peter and Avery made their way through the building, hand in hand as they talked with one another. She couldn't help but note how happy Avery looked with the teenage boy, and that's why she said what she said.

"Your dad's here." Skye nodded her head towards the direction Clint was in. "Training with Nat right now. Thought I'd give you a heads up in case you didn't know."

"Which I didn't." Avery sighed. "Alright, thank you Skye. Peter, you better leave before my dad sees you and murders you."

"Why would he murder me?" Peter frowned.

"Well, because you're dating his little girl, of course." Skye answered for him. "I personally haven't had any five minute conversations with Clint, but he looks very terrifying, even for me, a grown ass woman. So, I would leave while you can."

Avery smirked in amusement before pressing a quick kiss to Peter's cheek. "See you at school." Peter sighed and nodded before walking away. Avery mouthed a small thank you to Skye before quickly walking past her. Skye chuckled in amusement before continuing her way towards her room, only to stop as gasp fell from her lips. She placed her hand against her temple, grabbing onto the wall for support. She didn't know what was happening. One minute she was perfectly fine, the next her vision was turning black and she was falling to the floor, unconscious.
