asking to move in

"Goddammit," I sigh and rub my sore arms, glaring at the poster stuck high on my wall. I shoot a pointed look at Luc. "Say a word and I'll take away the cat."
He gapes and covers Nugget's ears defensively, who is sitting on his lap, purring. "You wouldn't dare."
I roll my eyes and prepare my toes for more torture. Fun-sized, my ass.
Luc sighs and stands as Nugget hops off and saunters away. "I'm telling you, I'll take it down and save both of us some time and pain. What other reason is there to have a boyfriend a whole head taller than you?"
"Fine," I say as I back up. Luc observes the paper before carefully plucking it off.
"Finally done with your Kageyama phase, huh? At least that's one less fictional guy I have to worry about."
"Who says I'm done with him?" I tease. I scan my room, its walls finally stripped bare. "Redecorating is gonna be a hassle, but I really want a change in scenery."
A moment passes, and then Luc says in a quiet voice, "Move in with me."
I widen my eyes and turn to him. "What?"
He looks at me then. "Move in with me. We're getting married, El. I don't know when people typically take this step but... I think it's time that we do."
My mouth hangs open. "Luc, I-"
He puts his hands on my shoulders and smiles at me, hazel eyes full of glimmering hope. I can't help but smile back, despite my being probably in some sort of state of shock.
"Think about it. You and I are graduating university soon, and then we're gonna have to find work, and then save up for our wedding..."
     I chuckle breathlessly. "Our wedding."
He nods. "Our wedding, Elara. Come on, it makes sense for us to do it now! Just picture it. High ceilings, open space, lots of big windows. A room with a windowsill dedicated for you and your books. Maybe a loft, a backyard."
I can see it. God, I can see it and it's perfect for us, and maybe for a family in the future. My stomach dips in excitement at the thought.
"We would come home to each other every day. We would bake in our own kitchen, dance in our own living room, laugh on our own balcony. We would make so many memories there, love." He takes my hands and rubs my engagement ring. "Say yes."
I bring his hand to my cheek and kiss it. "Yes."
He chokes out a mixed sound of relief, disbelief, and happiness. "Yes?"
I laugh. "Yes!" he pulls me into a hug. "Oh, we're gonna have our own house!!"
He picks me up and spins me around, laughing in my hair. When he puts me down, he pulls me into a hug. "I can't wait for this, my love."
I hold him tighter. "Me too."
He pauses then snickers. "We'd have our own bedroom..."
I slap his chest playfully. "Shut up, asshole." I then press a kiss to his lips, in a way, sealing the deal.
